In an effort to balance
\nour academic routines with important social and cultural opportunities for our
\nstudents, we\u2019d like to share information on our classroom celebrations.\u00a0
\nWe hope this helps your family to plan and enjoy some exciting social
\nmilestones in your elementary child\u2019s experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Several holiday-centered
\ncelebrations have developed into traditions in our building.\u00a0 Students and
\ntheir families look forward to these special themes and celebrations, and it
\nmay be helpful to know these traditions as your child progresses through school.\u00a0
\nHalloween, in particular, is an exciting time.\u00a0 We wish to tie our school
\ncelebration to curriculum to use our time wisely, create excitement surrounding
\nlearning pieces (such as reading, Wisconsin history, and science), and remain
\nsensitive to families\u2019 unique approaches to this traditional holiday.\u00a0 Our
\ngrade levels celebrate at the end of October in the following themes:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Everyday
\n Heroes: Students can chose to dress up as an everyday<\/b> hero that they
\n admire! Someone who is strong, brave, selfless, honest, and\/or kind. Some
\n examples are: a military member, a sports hero, a family member, a community
\n hero, or a past hero.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Wisconsin theme:
\n Students dress to reflect our Wisconsin heritage. This can include sports
\n team apparel or Wisconsin history. Accurate creativity encouraged!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We ask that families
\nrefrain from dressing their child with potentially scary accessories such as
\nfake blood, weapons, masks (other than their current face covering), etc.\u00a0
\nPlease also keep in mind that costumes worn for the entire school day still
\nneed to allow for daily activities.\u00a0 Students will still need to go to
\nrecess, physical education class, perform typical daily tasks, eat lunch,
\netc.\u00a0 These guidelines help all students to enjoy the day.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While our themes are
\nintended to spark creativity and support learning, we understand that the
\nthemes may not coincide with your family\u2019s chosen costumes for this traditional
\nholiday. \u00a0Please don\u2019t feel that you need to make an additional
\npurchase to enjoy this school dress-up experience. <\/b>\u00a0Our school
\nmission, vision, and commitments emphasize innovation<\/u><\/b>, so it\u2019s
\ngreat to see creative use of common clothing or materials to share the
\nexcitement of imagination!\u00a0\u00a0<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In previous years, your
\nchild\u2019s classroom may have hosted a brief celebration including treats, outside
\nvisitors, etc.\u00a0 We ask that you do not send treats this year for safety
\nreasons.\u00a0 We will focus on celebrating the themes within our school
\ncommunity that do not tie to food.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
