Juniors and Seniors who have met the academic requirements for NHS were
\nsent an application in the mail last week. Applications are due October
\n11th, 2019 at 3:15 pm. No exceptions for late applications. There will be
\nan informational meeting about NHS during enhancement on Wednesday October
\n2nd, 2019 in Mrs. Franklin’s room. Please join us if you have any
\nquestions about the application process. Sign up in Rebentify for the
\ninformational meeting.<\/p>\n

*FROM THE SCHOOL NURSES*<\/p>\n
Quality nutrition and physical activity are essential for optimal growth,
\ndevelopment, and well-being. The global shift in diet intake of foods that
\nare high in fat and sugar but low in nutrients has contributed greatly to
\nchildhood obesity. The immediate and long-term effects of overweight and
\nobesity impact the physical, emotional, and social health of children and
\nadolescents and places them at a higher risk for the following health
\nconditions (CDC, 2016a; Hoelscher, Kirk, Ritchie, & Cunningham-Sabo, 2013;
\nNIH, 2017):<\/p>\n
\u00b7 high blood pressure and high cholesterol (cardiovascular disease);<\/p>\n
\u00b7 breathing problems such as asthma and sleep apnea;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 type 2 diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 fatty liver disease, gallstones, gastro-esophageal reflux;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 psychological problems such as anxiety and depression;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 joint and musculoskeletal disorders;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 poor self-esteem and quality of life;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 social problems such as bullying; and<\/p>\n
\u00b7 some cancers.<\/p>\n
*ABOVE AND BEYOND*<\/p>\n
M and M Ullman\u2013 Mr. Berlin – stayed after the game Friday night to help
\nclean up the entire student section without being asked to do so.<\/p>\n
Skyler S, Matt F, Luke W \u2013 Mr. Krutzik – They helped clean up the cafeteria
\nafter lunch in preparation for The Homecoming dance<\/p>\n
Beth S \u2013 Ms. Stahlkopf – Beth graciously helped coordinate my
\nchromebook-desktop screen and projector so that we could watch an interview
\nwith author Tim O’Brien !<\/p>\n
\nTyler O \u2013 Ms. Hackbarth – stepped up to ref the powderpuff game…not a
\nvery easy task and did a great job!<\/p>\n
Alex V and Michael R for being great assistance in Mr. Pfister’s 6th hour
\nPE class. They ask how they can assist in the class rather than having me
\nask them to help out. Their initiative to help is greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n
John B- Mr. Pfister – shows great patience and a great work ethic in PE
\nclass. He has a great attitude when he comes into class and works hard each
\nday.<\/p>\n

VAR Girls Tennis (H) Kewaunee \u2013RESCHEDULED FOR 10\/3<\/p>\n
VAR X Country (A) Sheboygan Lutheran \u2013 4:15. Bus leaves at 3:00. Please
\ndismiss at 2:45.<\/p>\n
VAR Boys Soccer (A) Random Lake \u2013 4:30. Bus leaves at 3:30.<\/p>\n
JV2\/JV\/VAR Volleyball (A) Plymouth \u2013 5:30. Bus leaves at 4:15 p.m.<\/p>\n
*COUNSELING CENTER*<\/p>\n
*Any 11th or 12th grade students interested in doing a Co-Op* for 3rd or
\n4th quarter, there is a mandatory parent meeting on October 9th from
\n6:30-8:00pm at American Orthodontics in Sheboygan. If you have questions,
\nplease see Mr. Koepsell or Ms. Jarosch.<\/p>\n
*If students are interested in taking an AP exam*, they may sign up and pay
\nin the Counseling Office with Mrs. Groth either before or after school or
\nduring lunch. Sign up will end on Tuesday, October 15. The cost of each
\nAP exam is $94, and may be paid in cash or by check (made out to SDSF).<\/p>\n
*Attention Juniors and Seniors!!* We will have two universities visiting
\nSheboygan Falls High School the week of September 30. Today, Tuesday,
\nOctober 1, a Lakeland University Rep will be in the Counseling Office
\nduring Enhancement. You may sign up in Falcon Scheduling under Mrs. Groth
\nfor this visit. Then on Wednesday, October 2nd, a rep from Viterbo
\nUniversity in LaCrosse will be coming to the Counseling Office during 1st
\nlunch. If you wish to see this rep, you may just come in with your lunch
\nand meet with her\/him. If you have a 4A study hall, come see Mrs. Groth
\nfor a pass. These are great opportunities to learn more about some of the
\ncolleges and universities out there.<\/p>\n
*PARENTS*<\/p>\n
*Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for October 7 from 4-8 p.m. To
\nschedule, please go to our website, choose Family, and click on
\nParent\/Teacher Conferences. **Last day to sign with teachers is October
\n3rd.*<\/p>\n
*When dropping or picking up your student*, please do not use the circle in
\nfront of school. Please use Amherst Street when picking up or dropping off.<\/p>\n
*Parents:* If your student needs to leave early for an appointment, please
\nsend a note with them in the morning. We will give them a blue pass from
\nthe main office that will allow them to leave their class early.<\/p>\n
