Today is the first day of National School Counseling Week. Our focus for
the week is “Providing Lessons for Life.” Author Deepak Chopra once said
“The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat, can influence your
life by 30 to 50 years.” Your school counselors are here to help you think
through how you want your life’s journey to be for 50 or more years. Make
it a great day!

Attention All 8th Grade Families: If you have not already submitted a baby
picture for the yearbook for your student, please do so by February 28.
Pictures can be emailed to yearbook adviser Courtney Dekanich at
[email protected], or can be brought to her classroom in
hard copy.

IMPORTANT YEARBOOK ANNOUNCEMENT

Remember SFMS families, this week is the last week to purchase a 2018-2019
yearbook for only $20. After this Friday, the base price for yearbooks will
be $25. Yearbooks can be purchased online via the Josten’s site (linked to
the Forms for Families page of the school website), or order forms
(available online or in the office) can be handed in to Ms. Dekanich or the
Middle School Office. Don’t miss out on the chance to capture all of this
school year’s special memories!

*Student Council Members – *We are still in need of two parent volunteers
for the dance and members to work 15-minute shifts. Please return your
sign-up forms to Mrs. Powers as soon as possible.

The next Falcon Store will be February 5th so start earning those Falcon
Feathers and we will see you there!

*Candygrams are coming! *All next week at all grade level lunches,
students will be able to purchase and fill out a Valentine for 50 cents.
Then Student Council will add a big lip or heart sucker to it and deliver
it to the recipient on Valentines Day, Feb. 14. There will *not* be a
Green Day for suckers this year, so you’ll have to get them by buying
Valentines at lunch all next week!

*Student Council Members*, our Feb. 4th meeting is moved to Feb. 11th so we
can work on Candygrams for delivery by Valentines Day. So, no meeting on
Feb. 4th, but we will meet on Feb. 11th for anyone who can make it.

*No school on February 22nd : Blue Harbor Breaker Bay is offering $10
admission and $6 for a food vouchers. *

8th Grade Baby Pictures for Yearbook

our memory book baby pictures of our eighth grade class.

Photos can be shared with the yearbook adviser, Courtney Dekanich, via
email at [email protected]. Any photos you are incapable
of submitting digitally can be sent to school in hard copy and brought to
Ms. Dekanich’s classroom (245). All hard-copy photos will be returned as
soon as possible.

Please make sure to send only one baby picture per student. All photos
should be sent to the yearbook adviser by February 1, 2019.

are busy making memories every day. You can help preserve those memories by
purchasing a yearbook today!

Until February 8, the SFMS all-color yearbook will only be $20 (without
customization or add-on purchases). Yearbooks can be ordered online here
<www.jostens.com/apps/store/productBrowse/1252798/Sheboygan-Falls-Middle-School/2019-Yearbook/2018070604191479374/CATALOG_SHOP/>,

Additionally, if you attend any middle school events this year, please

photo contributions can help us do just that!

Health Tip:
*Frost Bite Prevention tips from your nurses!*

· *Limit time you’re outdoors in cold, wet or windy weather.* Pay
attention to weather forecasts and wind chill readings. In very cold, windy
weather, exposed skin can develop frostbite in a matter of minutes.

· *Dress in several layers of loose, warm clothing.* Air trapped
between the layers of clothing acts as insulation against the cold. Wear
windproof and waterproof outer garments to protect against wind, snow and
rain. Choose undergarments that wick moisture away from your skin. Change
out of wet clothing — particularly gloves, hats and socks — as soon as
possible.

· *Wear a hat or headband that fully covers your ears.* Heavy woolen
or windproof materials make the best headwear for cold protection.

· *Wear mittens rather than gloves.* Mittens provide better
protection. Or try a thin pair of glove liners made of a wicking material
(such as polypropylene) under a pair of heavier gloves or mittens.

· *Wear socks and sock liners that fit well, wick moisture and
provide insulation.*You might also try hand and foot warmers. Be sure the
foot warmers don’t make your boots too tight, restricting blood flow.

· *Watch for signs of frostbite.* Early signs of frostbite include
red or pale skin, prickling, and numbness. Seek warm shelter if you notice
signs of frostbite.

· *Plan to protect yourself.* When traveling in cold weather, carry
emergency supplies and warm clothing in case you become stranded. If you’ll
be in remote territory, tell others your route and expected return date.

· *Eat well-balanced meals and stay hydrated.* Doing this even
before you go out in the cold will help you stay warm.

· *Keep moving.* Exercise can get the blood flowing and help you
stay warm
