Today is the final day of National School Counseling Week. Your school
counselors, like everyone in our school, is here to make a difference in
your life. We want to help you learn wise lessons, achieve your goals and
become better human beings. As Dr. Seuss says, Be sure when you step, step
with care and great tact. And remember that life’s A Great Balancing Act.
And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! Our door is always open and we
are ready to help you. Nothing is too big or small for us. Thank you for
celebrating National School Counseling Week with us. Have a terrific and
safe weekend!

The 8th Grade has been given an opportunity to raise money for their 8th
grade trip at the end of the school year. Each card sells for $36 dollars
and includes 5-count washes. Each student will receive $16 for each card
sold and that money goes directly in their account for the trip. Selling 5
cards will pay for the trip. Selling 1-4 cards will contribute to the
account with less out of pocket at time of signing up for the field trip.

Fundraiser forms were sent home with 8th grade students last week. The due
date with FULL PAYMENT is due February 27. If you do not have an 8th grade
student, but would still like to purchase a card, please contact the Middle
School office.

The 2018-2019 school year is well underway, and our students here at SFMS
are busy making memories every day. You can help preserve those memories by
purchasing a yearbook today!

Until February 8, the SFMS all-color yearbook will only be $20 (without
customization or add-on purchases). Yearbooks can be ordered online here
<www.jostens.com/apps/store/productBrowse/1252798/Sheboygan-Falls-Middle-School/2019-Yearbook/2018070604191479374/CATALOG_SHOP/>,
or you can print this form
<www.sheboyganfalls.k12.wi.us/Forms/MiddleSchool/yearbook-order-form.pdf>
and
return it to the middle school office.

Additionally, if you attend any middle school events this year, please
consider sharing any photos you take with our yearbook staff using the ReplayIt
site <www.replayit.com/#/home> or app. We want to make sure we
capture as many wonderful middle school memories as possible, and your
photo contributions can help us do just that!

Health Tip:
*Frost Bite Prevention tips from your nurses!*

· *Limit time you’re outdoors in cold, wet or windy weather.* Pay
attention to weather forecasts and wind chill readings. In very cold, windy
weather, exposed skin can develop frostbite in a matter of minutes.

· *Dress in several layers of loose, warm clothing.* Air trapped
between the layers of clothing acts as insulation against the cold. Wear
windproof and waterproof outer garments to protect against wind, snow and
rain. Choose undergarments that wick moisture away from your skin. Change
out of wet clothing — particularly gloves, hats and socks — as soon as
possible.

· *Wear a hat or headband that fully covers your ears.* Heavy woolen
or windproof materials make the best headwear for cold protection.

· *Wear mittens rather than gloves.* Mittens provide better
protection. Or try a thin pair of glove liners made of a wicking material
(such as polypropylene) under a pair of heavier gloves or mittens.

· *Wear socks and sock liners that fit well, wick moisture and
provide insulation.*You might also try hand and foot warmers. Be sure the
foot warmers don’t make your boots too tight, restricting blood flow.

· *Watch for signs of frostbite.* Early signs of frostbite include
red or pale skin, prickling, and numbness. Seek warm shelter if you notice
signs of frostbite.

· *Plan to protect yourself.* When traveling in cold weather, carry
emergency supplies and warm clothing in case you become stranded. If you’ll
be in remote territory, tell others your route and expected return date.

· *Eat well-balanced meals and stay hydrated.* Doing this even
before you go out in the cold will help you stay warm.

· *Keep moving.* Exercise can get the blood flowing and help you
stay warm
