A Note From Mrs. Fischer:
6th graders who were in the 1st Art Class of the year: Your ceramics items
(bowls, leaves, etc.) are ready for pick up. You may take them home “as
is”, or glaze them in the Art Room. Before coming up to the Art Room,
please EMAIL Mrs. Fischer and set up a time to either pick up or glaze, due
to Fischer’s busy schedule.
A Note From Amy Lawerenz: all students were given a card with their lunch
bar code. This is their form of payment this year, touchless sales. They
will not be able to purchase ala carte without their card.
A Note From Library: A reminder to students when checking out books, please
bring your school card with you, unless they have their 5-digit number
memorized.
It really makes checkout out much more efficient. Thanks for your help with
this!

EDIBLE ENGINEERING~ It’s time for our annual “Gingerbread House” building
contest!
Gather a team of friends, plan your project, collect your edible building
materials and be part of this SFMS tradition!
This project encourages cooperative, creative, and artistic expression, and
is a great way to get into the holiday spirit! Students will form teams of
3 to 5 SFMS friends, then together design and build their edible structure
at home. Team entries should then be brought to school the morning of
Thursday, November 18th. The finished structures will be judged by our SFMS
staff, with the four most creative and well-executed going on to compete in
the Great Gingerbread Village Holiday Festival at the Waelderhaus in
Kohler. Winners will be announced the afternoon of Monday, November 22nd.
All remaining entries should be picked up and brought home at the end of
the day on either Monday, November 22nd or Tuesday, November 23rd. Any
entries left behind will be disposed of, following dismissal that day.

Edible Engineering~
“Gingerbread House” Building Contest!
Students… Please Share with Parents!
Your child is interested in participating as part of a team in designing a
“gingerbread” structure, for possible inclusion in the Great Gingerbread
Village Holiday Festival, held at the Waelderhaus in Kohler during the
month of December. This enrichment opportunity is sponsored by Mrs. Fiorini
and encourages cooperative, creative, and artistic expression.
Requirements for participation in this activity include the following;
On your own, AT HOME, and with a team of friends…
–
The goal of the activity is to design and build a “gingerbread”
structure- something that “people would use.”
–
The structure must be constructed out of entirely edible materials, (not
necessarily gingerbread) with the exception of glue and toothpicks, which
can be used in addition to frosting to adhere to the other edible
decorations.
–
Each structure will require thin plywood or some other type of sturdy
base, not bigger than 2’ X 2’…strong and sturdy, but not too heavy.
–
Students should form 3-5 person teams who together plan and design the
structure, individual entries do not qualify.
–
Teams will work on their projects on their own time AT HOME, between now
and Nov. 17th. Students will NOT build at school as in past years.
–
STUDENTS should do the work, with parents assisting only with ideas and
materials, building must be done by the students to qualify.
–
Entries should be brought to Mrs. Fiorini upon arrival the morning of
MONDAY, NOV. 18th. Instructions of where to bring your entries will be
posted outside of the main office! Each entry must include the bottom
portion of this letter, with the FULL NAMES and GRADE LEVELS of each
team member, as well as a TITLE for their entry. (Ex. Santa’s Workshop,
The Firehouse, Lambeau Field, Cozy Cabin in the Woods…)
SFMS staff members will view and vote to select the top four entries to be
entered in the Great Gingerbread Village Holiday Festival held at the
Waelderhaus in Kohler during the month of December. Winners will be
announced on Monday, Nov. 22nd in the afternoon. All remaining entries
should be picked up and brought home on either Monday, 11/22 or Tuesday,
11/23. Any entries left behind will be disposed of that evening. Contact
