As previously shared,
our students will complete both the iReady Reading and iReady Mathematics
assessment three times during the school year. We utilize the resulting
data to inform our universal instruction, to personalize learning for
students, and to monitor student growth toward grade-level proficiency
throughout the school year. The purpose of this assessment is not to give
your child a score or grade, but to determine how to best support their
learning in the classroom.

*What happens next?*

Our students will be assessed in both mathematics and reading between
January 14th and 24th. Typically, each assessment will take approximately
45 to 50 minutes in total, with testing divided into shorter periods over
several day’s time. Students have as much time as they need to complete the
tests. Once complete, the data will be analyzed by our classroom teachers,
ed specialists, and learning strategists to plan for the next steps in
instruction. We look forward to sharing these results with you in the
coming weeks.

*To help prepare your child for the i-Ready assessment, *encourage them to
get a good night’s sleep and to eat a full breakfast every day. Encourage
them to try their best on each question and not to rush through the test.

*If you have any questions about i-Ready*, please do not hesitate to
contact me, your child’s Math or ELA teacher, or Ed Specialists Mrs.
Fiorini or Ms. Falk. You can also learn more about i-Ready by visiting
i-ReadyCentral.com/FamilyCenter.

As always, thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in
your child’s learning! It is much appreciated!

Sincerely,

Amanda Pound

SFMS Principal

Please sign up in the MS office if you are interested in MS wrestling. The vaccine is safe
and effective and can prevent long absences from school and work.

In addition, there are steps the whole family can take to prevent and stop
the spread of illness. These include:

· Wash your hands often with soap and water, or use an
alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

· Cover your cough or sneeze with your upper sleeve, and try
to avoid touching your face with your hand.

· If you use a tissue, throw it away after one use.

· Never share drinking cups, straws, and utensils.

· When possible, avoid being exposed to people who are sick
with flu-like symptoms.

· Eat nutritious meals, get plenty of rest, and do not smoke.

· Frequently clean commonly touched surfaces, like doorknobs,
the refrigerator handles, your phone, and faucets.

If your child shows signs of illness, such as a high fever, cough,
sneezing, or runny nose, please keep them home until 24 hours after the
symptoms pass to prevent them from spreading illness to classmates and
staff.
