\"\"During the month of March, 2nd grade celebrated Read Across America.\u00a0 Students were encouraged to participate in a fun month long reading program.\u00a0 Those who completed their READO sheet received a popcorn piece to add to our pod display and enjoyed tasty popcorn as an added bonus.\u00a0 This great display was created by Sheboygan Falls High School student Jessiqua St. Onge who is currently working with the second grade as part of her course work.<\/div>\n

The first graders did an incredible job with helping the Cat in\u00a0<\/span>\"\"the Hat grow an amazing hat! The first graders earned a stripe for each book they read at home for the month of March and helped the Cat in the Hat to grow an impressive hat that wound around the entire pod wall! The first graders are celebrating their reading achievement this week with a popcorn party! GREAT job reading first graders!<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Mathieu’s students wrote haiku poetry, and are submitting thier poems to the National Schools Project. As a result of entering the project, the library will receive a free copy of the\u00a0Young American Poetry Digest. \u00a0If they are one of the ten schools\u00a0submitting\u00a0the most\u00a0poems\u00a0accepted for\u00a0publication,\u00a0the school could receive $100!!<\/div>\n
The kids had a blast writing their poems, and are excited to\u00a0share\u00a0them with a\u00a0larger audience.<\/div>\n
We have lots of talented writers, so we will share the good news when we\u00a0receive\u00a0it.<\/div>\n

Team Talks Happening in April<\/b><\/p>\n
Attention ALL 4th Grade Parents: You and your child are invited to their Fourth Grade TEAM Talk Conference! This is a specially designed conference for you and your child to discuss a successful middle school transition with their school counselor. It will focus on your child\u2019s current talents, interests, learning styles, goals, and other information to begin planning for their future. Your child\u2019s TEAM Talk Conference will last approximately 20 minutes and can be scheduled during the week of May 9th-13th, 2016. The School District of Sheboygan Falls and members of Chamber-Main Street have joined together to sponsor a community fundraiser to demonstrate support for local families who have suffered from fire tragedy and to support our firefighters for their selfless efforts to protect us all.<\/div>\n
The School District of Sheboygan Falls\u00a0<\/span>Make a Difference\u00a0<\/span>event starts March 21 and focuses on “paying it forward” to our community. As part of\u00a0<\/span>Make A Difference, we may see various activities to support this effort. Local Businesses and other groups will continue the activities through July 3. Efforts are under construction as we get the word out.<\/div>\n
Also, on March 23, Firehouse Restaurant is donating a portion of their proceeds that day to support the fundraiser. Again, more information is in the works – we will send more details soon!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Spring Cleaning or cleaning out some one’s home? Have old or mismatched forks & spoons? Send them to school! We prefer to use the “real stuff” instead of plastic for a better dining experience. We also feel this will save the landfills from all the plastic this is in part of an Earth Day recycling event. \u00a0You can drop in the office of any of our schools.<\/div>\n
Garden to Fork:<\/strong><\/div>\n
Did you know that our school district has its own garden and hoop houses? We use the produce throughout the year on our serving lines and our culinary classes also use in their classrooms and caterings that they offer. In the High School our first few months we didn’t have to purchase mu<\/div>\n

ch produce outside of the school district, we purchased from the garden on the grounds. This was also enjoyed in the Middle and Elementary Schools too. We also prep the produce in the summer for the freezer and are able to add to our recipes that we make during the year.The meals incorporate fresh, locally grown ingredients whenever possible. Students and parents will be able to note when we are using locally grown produce with the special notation on the menu and also noted right on the serving line. Our students take much pride in producing Garden to Fork produce for everyone<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The Falcon Families are already getting great response on our upcoming\u00a0Color\u00a0Run\u00a0May 14.\u00a0 With that said, we have decided to extend the early bird registrations, which includes a FREE t-shirt, to\u00a0Monday April 18th.\u00a0\u00a0The walk\/run\u00a0will be a 1 mile loop\u00a0at the elementary school allowing families to walk the loop 1-3 times.\u00a0\u00a0Color\u00a0fun will be had by one and all.\u00a0 If you have any further questions please contact Berta Lentz.<\/div>\n

Please contact your building office or the district office to receive a “Tuition Waiver Form.” Completion of this form will enable your child to continue attending school in the Sheboygan Falls District even though you no longer live within the District boundaries.
