Here at SFES, our teachers and staff members work hard to not only meet the academic needs of our students, but also their social and emotional needs, too. Throughout the year, Mrs. Humski and Ms. Stanke, our school counselors, have been developing lessons plans called ‘cool tools’ to help students learn about expected and unexpected behaviors. These ‘cool tools’ assist students in understanding the expectations for our learning spaces throughout the building including the playground areas.<\/div>\n
SFES staff model the expected and unexpected language for students every day. When a teacher encounters a problem, they may say, “Your behavior was very unexpected, what choice could you have made?” Feel free to ask your child about expected and unexpected behaviors. This universal language can also be easily transferred from school to home.<\/div>\n

We are making good progress on the design phase for the new middle school.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Middle School staff members have met with the architects to provide their input into the plans. Several school staff members have visited other school districts to view\u00a0 new schools and gather input from those school leaders. We meet weekly with the architects to keep plans moving ahead.<\/div>\n

The Board of Education is meeting February 6 to review the plans and provide more input. In March, based on the plans for the school, we will be selecting furnishings and equipment.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On January 23, the School District of Sheboygan Falls hosted an open Community Conversation for residents interested in learning more about how the School District will make its future decisions about the existing middle school.<\/p>\n

Response to Intervention (RtI) is a process that helps determine when students need extra support in literacy and math. Our team works with students and teachers on a daily basis to monitor student growth and development. Students who receive special supports may enter and exit this programming based on their personal need throughout their elementary experience. RtI can be for everyone. MLK DAY<\/b><\/div>\n
To recognize and celebrate\u00a0Martin Luther King, Jr.\u00a0Day, students in Mrs. Grunwald’s class read the book,\u00a0Martin’s BIG Words . Students then discussed the idea that the “big” words\u00a0MLK\u00a0used were not big in size, but big in importance. Students then brainstormed important words that represented what they dreamed of for the world. Then students completed a visual picture of their “dream” for the world.<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/th>\n

4 K EXPLORES BEMIS<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Scott Keuhn from Bemis Manufacturing visited Mrs. Adelman and Mrs. Schliewe’s 4K classes to introduce their students to the products that Bemis produces. Following Mr. Keuhn’s presentation, students connected their learning about manufacturing by participating in activities that focused on developing products. Mrs. Adelman and Mrs. Koene spent a week this summer at Bemis through our externship program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/th>\n

Students in third grade explored the properties of magnets. Dear Fourth Grade Parents,<\/div>\n
On February 15th, a group of randomly selected fourth graders will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Performance (NAEP) Assessment. This fourth grade group will represent thousands of other students across the country. Known as the ‘Nation’s Report Card’, NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students in the United States know and can do.\u00a0 NAEP, administered by the National Center for Education Statistics of the U.S. Department of Education, assesses what students know and can do.
