On March 9th, parents have the opportunity to meet once again with teachers regarding their child’s progress. Although spring conferences may not be necessary for every student, please know that we are happy to share development progress at anytime. You are encouraged to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) and keep the lines of communication open as your child’s social, emotional, and academic success is important to us. Spring Conferences 2017<\/a><\/div>\n
Finally, in April, our third and fourth grade students will be taking the Wisconsin Forward Exam. This exam was designed with the intention to assess how well our SFES students are performing in relation to the WI Academic Standards. Students in third grade are assessed in Math and English\/Language Arts (ELA) and students in fourth grade are assessed in Math, ELA, Social Students and Science. Throughout the month of March, our students will have the opportunity to try out the online features before taking the exam in April. \u00a0For more information, please view the brochure from the WI Department of Public Instruction.<\/div>\n

Third Grade visit to The Siberian Outpost<\/b><\/p>\n

In February, third grade students visited the Siberian Outpost as part of their learning surrounding the Iditarod. Students learn about how to care for the sled dogs, mushing, and details about Jim’s Siberian Outpost business. Students in Mrs. Loehr’s Kindergarten classroom and students in Mrs. Grunwald’s 4th grade classroom collaborated on a Bookworm Gardens proposal. Together, students designed a space for Bookworm Gardens around the themes from the book, The Most Magnificent Thing <\/em>by Ashley Spires.
