Greetings!<\/strong><\/div>\n
It is hard to believe that the school year is winding down! For both students and staff members, the year has been focused on learning through experiences. \u00a0In Mrs. Loehr’s class (see above photo), students\u00a0made language, writing, and social gains through the implementation of visual and prompting tools in her classroom because of district-wide learning that a district autism team had shared with staff. \u00a0Research tells us that these practices help all children understand expectations and feel confident in their school jobs!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

As you will read throughout this newsletter, students have been engaged in learning experiences beyond the classroom and into the community. Our students have been participating in the ABC Countdown to celebrate our year of learning and to help us finish strong. \u00a0We are Falcons!<\/p><\/div>\n

Finally, as a reminder, with summer school starting soon (June 12th), so does construction on the new middle school. Please be mindful that SFES will be impacted too. Throughout the summer, there will be limited access with parking lot changes and the closure of Alfred Miley. All families will have access to the elementary school by using Greenwiew Drive.<\/div>\n

A Trip to Hanke Farm<\/div>\n
The fourth grade students visited Hanke Farm this month.\u00a0Part of the fourth grade Social Studies curriculum is the study of Wisconsin. \u00a0One of the many reasons Wisconsin is so unique is because of the local goods and services that are produced here. Students learned about the goods produced on the farm on and where these products can be found within our community and throughout Wisconsin. \u00a0An opportunity to get up-close and personal on the farm enhances learning!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Students at SFES have access to fidgets within the classroom when necessary. Teachers have taken the time to review fidget expectations so that they are not a distraction to those students who choose not to access them. We have also had teachers such as Mrs. Kluth and Mrs. Koene utilize outside organizations such as DonorsChose.org in order to add further classroom options.<\/div>\n
Recently, we have seen an increase in the number of students who have brought fidget spinners from home into the school environment. Unfortunately, these spinners have become more of a distraction within our learning environments. At this time, we are recommending that students keep their fidget spinners at home. They are welcome to use one of the many fidget options within their classroom if they are feeling one would assist with focus and learning. If you have visited SFES lately, you might have noticed the beautiful artwork throughout our learning spaces. This artwork was on display for Fine Arts Fest that was held on April 27th. From singing to dancing, the audience got the opportunity to experience the diverse talents of our SFES students. Prior to the start of the talent show, students, family and friends could view living museum performances or view various artwork displayed throughout the school. Mrs. Anzia’s 4th Grade Enrichment group is focusing on analyzing famous historical figures based on various character traits that these individuals possessed as they “Dared to Dream” the impossible.\u00a0 The students are being asked to research and write a character analysis of the person of their choosing by determining character traits and providing proof of those character traits.\u00a0 Students are highly engaged in learning about these individuals and are consistently finding ways to “Dare to Dream” themselves!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR<\/strong><\/div>\n

The\u00a0registration\u00a0date for the 2017-18 school year has been set for\u00a0July 25\u00a0from\u00a09:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.\u00a0Please note that\u00a0registration\u00a0is just ONE day this summer and will take place at the high school.\u00a0Registration\u00a0notifications, forms, and payments will all be done through Infinite Campus and convenience fees are waived during July and August. If online\u00a0registration\u00a0and fee payment are completed prior to this date, the only thing that will have to done at registration will be to have your student photographed and pick up schedules\/teacher assignments.<\/div>\n

Kindred Heart Families, Inc. a 501(3) non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to making sure that every child in the Wisconsin foster care system has more than just their basic medical and food needs met. Kindred Heart Families, Inc. is striving to make every child in foster and kinship care feel valued, comforted and loved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
We are holding our first annual Family FunFest on May 27th. Family FunFest is a benefit to raise money for Kindred Heart Families, Inc. many foster children programs. Our Family FunFest will have Children Games, a Bounce House, a Vendor and Craft Market, and a Brat Fry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
