I am always impressed by the way our student body and staff step up for a good cause. Last week was Make a Difference Week and as usual our students stepped up in a big way by donating over 1300 items to our\u00a0Sheboygan\u00a0Falls Food pantry. We kicked off the week with a<\/div>\n

school assembly with speaker Mike McGowan that hit home the power of paying it forward and treating all people with dignity and respect. It was\u00a0wonderful to see some students post positive notes on lockers of other students last week. With all the negativity in our media, it is always nice to be<\/div>\n
reminded of all of the good in our students, staff and community. This is just one of the great community service programs and events in which our high school takes part. Encourage your child to become part of the Community Service Club or the Key Club here at school to take part in further community service projects and opportunities.<\/div>\n

Senior Project 2015<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
English 12 students will present their senior projects in an open fair settingWednesday, April 29\u00a0in the cafeteria and nearby areas from\u00a04:00-7:00 pm. Students chose a topic mid year, one that resonated with them personally, and they have been working on it ever since. First students did research to learn more, they interviewed an expert who could tell them what books and articles could not, and now they are in the design phase of their project, where they hope to address a problem or a need that exists.A project-based learning model was used to develop this portion of the English 12 curriculum, which is now in its fourth year. Students further develop their general language and communication skills, and they also learn about important workplace habits of mind. The senior project, which will eventually make up a portion of each student’s ePortfolio, has the potential to create pathways for future success, as students are not only showing what they know but also what they can do.\"\"Each student will personally invite his or her family to share in the celebration, and English 12 teachers hope all parents reading this article will mark their calendars for the Senior Showcase event. In mid April, invitations will go out to school administration, the school board, all K-12 teachers, and the local businesses who participated in the Career Symposium earlier this year, but the event is open to the public and all are invited to attend. The Sheboygan County Robotics team recently wrapped up its season in the annual regional in Milwaukee March 19-21. The team competed at Panther Arena for 3 days. The objective this year was to build a robot that could stack totes and cans\"\"to try and form as many points as possible. The task sounded easy at first but as the nearly 50 person team and 20 mentors from local businesses looked into it further, it was realized that it would take a full team effort. Students came up with ideas and the CAD (Computer Aided Design) team drew up some possibilities of what the robot might look like. Chemistry Students Unite!<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
\"\"Energy and enthusiasm coursed through Lakeland College’s natural sciences division when about 60 Sheboygan Falls High School juniors and seniors spent the day engaged in various chemistry experiments.The high school students separated into groups, then rotated from station to station for six 35-minute chemistry experiments conducted by Lakeland College Chemistry Club students.”This was great experience for the high school students and our Chemistry Club students,” said Brian Frink, Lakeland’s professor of chemistry and physics. “The high school students were able to participate in lab experiences that otherwise would not have been possible in their regular school day. Northeastern Wisconsin Area Health Education Center is sponsoring TWO Health Careers Summer Camp for students entering 10th through 12th grades. One camp is in the Lakeshore Area and the other camp is in the Fox Valley Area. Current Freshmen Students: You Are Invited to Be a Part of Workbound!<\/b><\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Workbound is a two-year extracurricular program which provides a guided career preparedness experience for students. Along with support from the program advisor, the student’s parent\/s and volunteer business professionals, this program helps students to determine their future career paths and provides them with opportunities for career exploration. Depending upon the year, students will have the opportunity to participate and learn about time management, complete career investigations using the internet based careerinformation site, Career Cruising, meet with a professional mentor, go on several job shadows, create a resume, formulate a personal statement which may be used on aresume or college application, be involved in a mock interview with business professionals, and hear various presentations from local educational institutions. What is commitment? Webster’s Dictionary defines commitment as a promise to do or give something. A simple definition for a complex idea. Many students have dreams and goals they would like to achieve but do not know what a committed person looks or acts like. As a result many students are not able to progress towards their goals and as a result they give up. Regardless what your dream is: enrolling at Madison, starting a band, or playing sports in college you must be committed to your goal. In the book The 21 Indispensable Qualities Of A Leader by John C. Maxwell, he defines how a committed person looks and acts. “When it comes to commitment, there are really only four types of people:”<\/p>\n
