While it feels like Spring is already here, Middle School students and staff have been busy making progress on teaching and learning with students recently having completed their Winter diagnostic assessment. Staff uses this data to reflect and continue planning as we complete the end of the third quarter.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Spring conferences are scheduled for March 7th, be on the lookout for more information to connect with your students’ teachers at the Middle School.\u00a0 And, as always, feel free to reach out to your students’ teachers at any time as we continue to work together in making progress academically, socially, and emotionally.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the month of February the Middle School conducted a medical hold drill.\u00a0 An example of a medical hold could be for an injury, an allergic reaction, or possibly someone not feeling good.\u00a0 Staff and students continued teaching and learning while the short \u201cmedical hold\u201d was performed.\u00a0 Next month the Middle School will conduct our spring ALICE drill.\u00a0 More information on this will be coming soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Wisconsin State Assessments take place during March and April.\u00a0 Similar to the prior years, the Middle School will run a modified schedule to accommodate testing schedules.\u00a0 In addition, the students will be provided a light breakfast before taking the assessments in the morning.\u00a0 Testing dates are as follows:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Families are invited to come and join the Middle School for the Title One Family day on Thursday, March 14th.\u00a0 This is an opportunity for families to visit their students’ homeroom classroom and to learn more about the SFMS learning community and the resources available for families to support learning at home. The inter-district public school Open Enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside or to remain in their current district in the event that they move out of the district before the start of the 2024-25 school year (Moving? See\u00a0<\/span>HERE<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>for more information on remaining in the District through the school year).\u00a0Open Enrollment will allow student(s) to continue attending school in the School District of Sheboygan Falls. Please call Lisa Berg at 920-467-7893 for additional information or check the Department of Public Instruction Website at:\u00a0<\/span>https:\/\/dpi.wi.gov\/open-enrollment<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(also check the 2024-25 Open Enrollment Regular Application Period Brochure).<\/span><\/p>\n

There is no tuition cost for students participating in the Open Enrollment program, but parents are responsible for transporting their student(s) to and from school.<\/span><\/p>\n

The open enrollment period for the 2024-25 school year is from February 5th until 4:00 p.m. on April 30th, 2024.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Applications must be done on the DPI (Department of Public Instruction) website at\u00a0<\/span>https:\/\/dpi.wi.gov\/open-enrollment<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0A link to this site will also be available on the school web site during the application period at:\u00a0<\/span>www.sheboyganfalls.k12.wi.us<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0The DPI website will be active from February 5th until 4:00 p.m. on April 30th, 2024.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

8th Grade Writing Students created “tableaus” mimicking the image of the famous “Soldiers Playing Cards” painting. Cyberbullying is\u00a0the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. Online threats and mean, aggressive, or rude texts, tweets, posts, or messages all count, as does posting personal information, pictures, or videos designed to hurt or embarrass someone else.\u00a0 According to the Pew Research Center, “nearly half of U.S.\u00a0Teens have been bullied or harassed online, with physical appearance being seen as a relatively common reason why.”\u00a0 Older teen girls are especially likely to report being targeted by online abuse overall and because of their appearance.<\/p>\n
