Anti-Bully Slogans for October
Your words have power-use them wisely.
Here at Sheboygan Falls Middle School we believe that we are here to share
a responsibility in working together to ensure all students feel welcome
and safe. Starting this week, we begin Nation Bully Prevention Month. We’ll
be focusing on how to recognize bullying, how to refuse to be bullied, as
well as other related information. Our focus this first week is how to
recognize bullying. We also want to remind staff and students to wear black
on Wednesdays this month to support being a Bully Free School!
What is the difference between Bullying and Conflict?
Bullying happens when someone keeps hurting, frightening, threatening, or
leaving someone out on purpose. Bullying is deliberate, repeated over time,
and is a situation in which one person has more power than the other.
Conflict is a disagreement that happens when people want different things.
The people involved in conflict have equal power to solve the problem. They
are not purposely trying to hurt each other. Bullying is different.
Bullying is unfair and one-sided. It happens when someone keeps picking on
someone on purpose. The goal of bullying is to make the victim feel scared
or bad about themselves and that is NOT okay. ALl kids have conflicts or
disagreements that end up in arguing or fighting, that’s different from
bullying.
To help recognize bullying: ask yourself these questions:
Does it continue to happen even though you’ve told the person to stop?
Is the person making you feel scared or bad about yourself?
Does the person have more power or control over the situation than you do?
If you are having a problem with a friend, make sure you are using the word
“bullying” properly and that it is not just a conflict or disagreement that
you have the power to solve!
Don’t forget to wear black next Wednesday to support being a Bully Free
School!

and Tuesday, October 18th 4-7pm. Here are the steps when signing up for
conferences go to the district website and click on Family on top, then to

icon that says Parent Teacher Conference Registration. Click on the school
on the right hand side. If you need assistance call the MS at 467-7880.

everyone to get a time slot. If you feel the need to meet with more than 2

another time. Fifth grade parents will be getting a note in their child’s
folder letting them know which teacher to schedule conferences with. It
will be with just their homeroom teacher. That teacher will have all your
child’s information to share with you from the other teachers that your
child has. Thank you for all your cooperation with scheduling conferences.
