Anti-Bully Slogans for October
Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help,
and brave enough to ask for it.
Attitude of Gratitude quote for MAD Week: “We tend to forget that happiness
doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of
recognizing and appreciating what we do have.” There are so many people
who do so much for kids at school. Showing gratitude to our staff in
meaningful ways can make a difference. Give a genuine verbal compliment or
note of thanks to a staff member this week.
The best way to reduce garbage is to not create it. A waste-free lunch
(sometimes called a litter-less, smart, garbage-less, waste-free,
no-garbage or waste-not lunch) means that you have no packaging to throw
away when you’re done. All you’re left with is apple cores, banana peels
and other biodegradable extras. Don’t forget…tomorrow is our first Waste
Free Lunch!
Parents and Coaches,
The Varsity basketball coaches will be holding a couple Skill Days next

Attention SFMS Staff and Students – Did you know that in Wisconsin alone
more than 200,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year? Let’s
show our support and wear pink on Monday, October 31st as Breast Cancer
Awareness month comes to a close. Wouldn’t it be neat to have the entire
school filled with pink to show our support?
This year the SDSF, in conjunction with Make a Difference Week, is striving
to create less trash during lunch. A typical American school kid
generates 67 pounds of discarded lunchbox packaging waste per school year.
That’s more than 18,000 pounds annually for an average-size elementary
school, which adds up nationwide to more than 1 billion pounds annually. A
typical U.S. family using disposables generates more than 4,000 pieces of
lunch trash unnecessarily each year, according to our ECO lunchboxes
Lunchbox Waste Study 2010. The 1st WASTE FREE LUNCH is Oct. 26th.
Domino’s pizza, Steamed Broccoli Florets, Ranch Salad, Fresh Blueberries,
Fresh Apple. There will not be extra containers to put ketchup and dip in.
Just place the condiments on your tray with the food you’re using it on.
On the back are a few ideas to help you pack your own waste-free lunch.
*Attention 7th and 8th grade students! We will be holding
the Falcon Store on Wednesday, October 26th in the cafeteria. This is an
opportunity for all students to spend their falcon feathers earned by
“staying above the line” on awesome prizes like snacks, school supplies,
and more!*
*For one falcon feather you can purchase items like pens or pencils. For
two, you can purchase fruit roll-ups, suckers, or Sharpies. Three feathers
can get you chips. With four feathers, you can buy cool notebooks or
snacks. Those who have earned five feathers can buy Gatorade!*
*Rules will be posted about making purchases.*
*Be sure to save those hard earned falcon feathers so you can experience
the falcon store…brought to you by the falcon way! Go falcons!*
We will be wearing blue and yellow for Down Syndrome awareness on Tuesday
Oct. 25
If any students or staff have family or friends who are veterans, and you
would like an invitation to our program sent to them, please get their
names and addresses to Alice Samse by Friday, Oct. 28.
Sheboygan Falls Middle School will again be participating in *Operation
Gratitude’s Candy Give Back Program.* We’re not kidding! *WE WANT YOUR
CANDY!* Candy will be *shipped overseas to our courageous troops *(who
could sure use a treat or two!) serving our country in the Middle East. In
return, you will be doing good things for others! It’s all about MAKING A
DIFFERENCE!
*Candy can be dropped off November 1st-4th in-front of the main office!
Thank you for your donation!*
* Attention Grade 7 & 8 Boys Basketball Players: * The beginning of your
season is rapidly approaching. Before the first day of practice on October
24 after school in MS gym 3:30-5, you need to have all of your paperwork
completed and turned in to the office. Don’t leave it for the last minute
because you may need a physical exam, which involves a visit to a doctor.
The necessary forms are on the middle school web site or in the office.
Please also sign-up in the office if you plan on playing. Thanks, Coaches
