*Health Tip*
Choking
There are several things that contribute to choking. All of these things
can happen right in our own lunch room.
1. Trying to swallow large pieces of poorly chewed food.
2. Eating while talking excitedly or laughing
3. Eating to fast.
4. Walking, playing, or running with food or objects in the mouth.
The universal sign of choking is to put both your hands over your throat.
There are people in the lunch room who are trained to help you if choking
occurs. Someone who is coughing should continue to cough. If you are
choking and cannot talk and cannot cough given the universal choking sign.
Help will be on the way.
