Still looking for a few more acts for the talent fest. Please hand in your
forms to Mrs. Charbonneau by Jan. 2. Thanks!

Sheboygan Falls Middle School students will have the opportunity to
participate in the annual *Talent Fest on Friday, January 12th, 2018, at
6:30PM in the middle school auditorium.* Students interested in
participating in the Talent Fest should begin to think about what type of
performance they wish to display. Students may perform in only one act
(unless it is a larger school organized ensemble), which can be either a
solo or group performance. Types of performances presented in the past
include singing, dancing, musical presentations, short skits, juggling, or
any act that displays a student’s talent. Now is the time to determine if
you wish to participate, in what way, and with whom. Performances will be
limited to 2 minutes. Students who elect to sing must be prepared to do so
without singing over the voice on a cd. Singers should include the name of
song they will perform on the permission slip and Mrs. Charbonneau will
provide a cd of the music for you to practice with. Parents, please assist
your child in assuring that the performance, music and lyrics, and costumes
are appropriate for our middle school audience. A printed copy of the
lyrics to music to be played or sung must be brought to the first rehearsal.

Students wishing to participate must be willing to thoroughly prepare and
practice at home. Participants *must attend either* of the scheduled
rehearsal dates, as indicated below. Acts must be well prepared, polished,
and ready to perform at the two rehearsals. The rehearsal dates are;

• *Monday, January 8th from 3:15-4:30PM*

*• Thursday, January 11th from 3:15-4:30PM*

The program begins at 6:30 PM in the auditorium, and will end at
approximately 8:00PM. Students should arrive at the auditorium at least 20
minutes prior to show time. The students must bring/wear their costume and
any props needed, unless they have elected to leave these items with
director after their final rehearsal date. Students must be seated in the
back of the auditorium, in show order, as predetermined by director.

*Students wishing to participate can pick up the forms outside Mrs.
Charbonneau’s room and return them to her no later than Jan. 2. Thanks!*

GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYERS: Please sign up in the office ASAP and make sure
you have all of the necessary paperwork taken care of before the season
starts on January 2nd.

*Health Tip*

*5 Healthy Eating Tips for the Holidays*

1) Holiday-Proof Your Plan:
-Eat close to your usual times to keep your blood sugar steady.

-If you have a sweet treat, cut back on the carbs (like
potatoes and bread) during the meal

-Don’t skip meals to save up for a feast. Keep your blood
sugar in control.

2) Outsmart the Buffet:

-Have a small plate of food and then move away from the table

-Start with vegetables to take the edge off your appetite

-Eat slowly. It takes 20 minutes for your brain to realize you
are full

-Avoid or limit alcohol.

3) Fit in Favorites:

-NO food is on the naughty list. Slow down and savor each
bite. A small serving can help beat the craving.

4) Keep Moving:

-Being active is your secret holiday weapon. It can help make
up for the eating and reduce stress. Try taking a family walk after a
holiday meal.

5) Get your ZZZ’s:

-Sleep loss makes it harder to control your blood sugar, and
when you are sleep deprived you tend to eat more and prefer high-fat,
high-sugared food. Aim for 7-8 hours per night.

Thank you and have a safe and Happy Holiday Season from your nurses!
