Students – As we welcome the month of May I have decided to run a weekly
raffle to celebrate taking care of yourself mentally and physically. Every
Friday in May I will draw four names to win a special prize from my office.
All you have to do is stop by the office and complete a short survey noting
how you took care of your self during the week. Examples might be that you
read a book for enjoyment, played your instrument for enjoyment, played a
sport, or simply took a walk. We are encouraging everyone to be mindful of
the importance of being your best! To be your at your best, means finding
time to relax. Thank you and good luck! Ms. Markofski

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! When you or someone you love is
dealing with a mental health concern, sometimes it is a lot to handle. It
is important to remember that mental health is essential to everyone’s
overall health and well-being, and mental illnesses are common and
treatable. So much of what we do physically affects us mentally. That is
why this year’s theme for May is Mental Health Month – Fitness #4Mind4Body
– is a call to pay attention to both your physical health and your mental
health, which can help achieve overall wellness and set you on a path to
recovery. May is Mental Health Month was started 69 years ago by Mental
Health America to raise awareness about mental health conditions and the
importance of good mental health for everyone. This May we are focused on
how a healthy lifestyle may help prevent the onset or worsening of mental
health conditions, as well as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and other
chronic health problems. It can also help people recover from these
conditions. Eating healthy foods, managing stress, exercising, and getting
enough sleep can go a long way in making you both physically and mentally
healthy. Each day during the month of May, Mental Health America will post
a challenge on our website atwww.mentalhealthamerica.net/challenge and on
our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Each daily challenge will be
designed to take relatively little time, and be accessible to individuals
no matter their level of physical fitness of where they are on their mental
health journey.

*Health Tip:*
Did you know that May 5th is National Hand Hygiene Day! Your health and
those around you depend on clean hands! Please remember to wash your hands
before putting anything in your mouth and after using the restroom
The World Health Organisation (WHO) developed the five-step hand-washing
method
avoid spreading germs to others and getting sick yourself. The five-step
method is simple:
*Step 1: Wet* your hands with warm, clean water and apply soap.
*Step 2: Lather* the soap and create bubbles by rubbing your hands
together. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under
your fingernails.
*Step 3: Scrub* your hands and arms up to the elbows.
*Step 4: Rinse* your hands to wash away soap and germs.
*Step 5: Dry* your hands and arms with paper towels, or a blow drier if
possible.
Your nurses want you to stay healthy! We miss you when you are sick! Scrub,
Scrub, Scrub!
