This camp provides housing and meals for 6 amazing days of music! Whether
you are a band, chorus, piano, or string player we have what you need to

in the trash as well.

On April 23rd the menu will be: Chicken Tenders, French Bread Pizza,
Steamed Vegetables, Brown Rice, Fresh Veggies, Oranges. There will not be
extra containers to put ketchup and dip in. Just place the condiments on
your tray with the food you’re using it on.

Eighth Graders have the opportunity to purchase a photo of the Class of
2018 (the group picture that was taken in front of the building on the
snowy day).

There are two options:

20 x 10 inch photo print $20.00

10 x 5 inch photo print $10.00

Prints are posted on the office window for you to view.

*Health Tip:*

Stress impacts everyone at some point in their life. Stress can have
negative effects on your health over time. Some examples of identifying
stress are listed below:

· Irritability and moodiness

· Withdrawing from or refusing to participate in activities they
previously enjoyed

· Expressing worry

· Complaining

· Crying

· Being fearful

· Clinging to a parent or teacher

· Changes in sleep patterns: sleeping too much or too little

· Changes in eating: eating too much or not enough

· Teens may be better able to explain what they are feeling but
may withdraw from family, choosing instead to open up to friends. While
this is a normal part of growing up, you also need to be aware if your teen
withdraws too much, avoiding interaction with parents.

Both young children and teens may have physical signs of stress including
headaches and stomachaches. They may also use different words, such as
“worried,” “confused,” “annoyed” or “angry” or put themselves down, such as
“I am stupid.” or “No one likes me.”

There are ways to help yourself and students manage stress. Some examples
include: talking with someone, acknowledging that everyone experiences
stress at some point in their life, plan fun activities, get outside and
exercise, and look for or help your child find solutions vs. blaming
others.

Your nurses want you to eat right, get appropriate amounts of sleep, and
get out an exercise for at least 20 min a day, and push that stress away!

Expected Behavior on The Tire Swing – Hello students, we were noticing some
unexpected behaviors on the tire swing.

Here are a few quick reminders:

1. Always take turns and be respectful of others.

2. Always stop when others ask you to stop.

3. Please remember to be safe when you are pushing. It would be
unexpected if someone hit their head on the bars from being pushed.

The Lakeshore Youth Chorale is holding auditions Tuesday, April 10th from
6:00-8:00 and Saturday, April 14th from 9:00 to 11:00. Please contact

Mrs. Charbonneau has 20 spots open for the RCS Annie field trip. Please
see her for a slip. This field trip is April 16th and is open to drama
students that have good academic standing and no behavior referrals.

*Health Tip:*

Dental Health

Did you know that it takes 24 hours for bacteria in your mouth to form a
sticky film called plaque. If plaque is not removed with proper brushing
and flossing it coats your teeth and becomes tartar. Tartar can only be
removed by your dentist or hygienist. If you do not have the tartar removed
your jaw bone starts to dissolve and your teeth can fall out. Keep your
teeth by daily brushing and flossing! Make regular appointments with your
dentist or contact your school nurse and take advantage of Lakeshore
Health’s Dental clinic that comes right to our schools and is going on
right now!

Any seventh and eighth grade students interested in Track and Field should
sign up in the office starting March 6th. Track and Field is a great way to
learn how to compete while you improve speed, strength, and endurance while
having a great time with friends and teammates. Everyone
participates–there is no bench in Track and Field! Practice starts on April
3rd (the first day after break), and meets begin April 16. All athletes
need to have paperwork completed (athletic code, concussion form, physical)
and fees turned in before the first practice to participate. There is a
parent meeting at 5pm on April 3rd in the gym. If you have any questions
about the forms, please ask in the middle school office.

Music In Our Schools Month® or “MIOSM®” is the National Association for
Music Education’s annual celebration during March which engages music
educators, students, and communities from around the country in promoting
the benefits of high quality music education programs in schools. Music In
Our Schools Month® began as a single statewide Advocacy Day and celebration
in New York in 1973 and grew over the decades to become a month-long
celebration of school music in 1985.

To show our support we will feature a music “quote of the day” in the daily
announcements. We also encourage students to wear shirts that promote
music. “Music Mondays” will be our big day but feel free to show your
support for music any/all days of the week.

“After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is
music.”
