*Need Baked Goods ???*
Hello parents! Our 8th grade class will be heading to Great America on June
6th to celebrate the end of their Middle School years! The trip committee
has been working on ways to offset the cost of this trip. We held a very
successful bake sale in January. We have decided to hold another bake sale
in the hope to raise the rest of the money needed to keep the cost the same
as it has been in past years for families. Baked goods will be sold during
parent/teacher conferences on Tuesday (3/13) as well as after the play
performances Thursday through Saturday (3/15-3/17). A huge thank you goes
out to Mrs. Woodworth and her Culinary 3 class at the High School. They
will be making the baked goods for our sale!!!

Fifty-one music students are busy preparing for the annual Solo & Ensemble
Festival scheduled for Saturday, March 24th at New Holstein High School.
SFMS will be represented in a total of 55 solo and small ensemble entries
including Show Choir and Jazz Ensemble. We would like to thank our parents
ahead of time for supporting their aspiring young musicians by attending
their performances. Events are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. A
Preliminary Schedule will be available March 9th and a Final Schedule and
Site Map will be available March 16th. Please contact Mrs. Winkler at
[email protected] if you are able to volunteer your time as
a homeroom chaperone.

The Annual SFMS Student Art Exhibit is almost here! Our annual showcase of
awesome student art is next week, March 15-17 (same nights as the musical)
This is our final art exhibit here at 101 School Street! Lots of memories
we will leave behind.

March is also Youth Art Month so we are celebrating the role and importance
of the arts in our schools. We are so fortunate to have so many art
classes offered to students here in Sheboygan Falls.

Our cafeteria will be transformed into an art gallery next weekend. Mrs.
Fischer has been saving hundreds of art pieces from this past school year
to display. But, students may also bring in artwork that they may have
taken home already, or artwork created at home “in your free time”. Bring
in these items to Mrs. Fischer ASAP.

During intermission of the musical “Annie Jr.”, and before and after the
show, the Art Exhibit will also have refreshments available. Donations are
greatly appreciated as it is a way to raise extra funds for art supplies!

Parent volunteers are needed to help hang artwork Wednesday after school,
and we will need help taking tables down and moving artwork on
SATURDAYNIGHT after the final Annie performance. (students could help
with Saturday night takedown)

Hawaiian & Beach Dress Up Day March 16th. Beach party at lunch. Please

program will be running a class after school March 12, to go over basics of
lifting weights. No prior knowledge or sign up is necessary just show up
and meet in the gym lobby on Monday at 3:30. Class will be sequential so

*Health Tip:*

*Why do we have to eat healthy food?*

*Do you know what your liver does?* Your liver, processes all the foods you
eat, makes energy, muscles, strong bones, processes cholesterol, fats,
sugars, drugs, etc. Your liver also helps you stay well and recover when
you are sick.

*Your liver cannot do its hundreds of life saving jobs if you feed
it.*…..fatty
foods, sugary drinks, greasy burgers, pizza, and starchy foods

*A healthy liver depends on* your choice of food and drink, so make sure
you get plenty of vegetables, fruits, nuts, fish, lean meats, whole grains
and beans.

student-staff basketball game should meet in Mrs. Cotter’s room at lunch
TODAY. Grab your lunch and head to room 301. We will eat and learn the
routine.

Please
remember to bring a towel or blanket to sit on during lunch.

Any 8th grader boys interested in playing soccer in HS, there will be a
meeting in the MS gym lobby with Coach Koepsell to talk about summer
scheduling and answer any questions. The meeting will be March 21st at
10:30am.

*5th grade Biz Town field trip on April 10th is good with the amount of
chaperones. Thank you to everyone who volunteered!*

If any students are interested in learning about the weight room, bio
mechanics or just interested in staying fit and active, the coaching staff
at Sheboygan Falls High School would like to help you out. The athletic
program will be running a class after school next week March 12, to go over
basics of lifting weights. No prior knowledge or sign up is necessary just
show up and meet in the gym lobby on Monday at 3:30. Class will be
sequential so attendance all week is recommended. Please talk to coach
Henney if you have any questions.

There will be a wrap-up FBLA pizza celebration/meeting on Thursday, March 22,
in Ms. Probst’s room (204) after school. We will go over our results from
regionals, celebrate our accomplishments, and brainstorm for next year.

learn how to compete while you improve speed, strength, and endurance while
having a great time with friends and teammates. Everyone
participates–there is no bench in Track and Field! Practice starts on April
3rd (the first day after break), and meets begin April 16. All athletes
need to have paperwork completed (athletic code, concussion form, physical)
and fees turned in before the first practice to participate. There is a
parent meeting at 5pm on April 3rd in the gym. If you have any questions
about the forms, please ask in the middle school office.

Music In Our Schools Month® or “MIOSM®” is the National Association for
Music Education’s annual celebration during March which engages music
educators, students, and communities from around the country in promoting
the benefits of high quality music education programs in schools. Music In
Our Schools Month® began as a single statewide Advocacy Day and celebration
in New York in 1973 and grew over the decades to become a month-long
celebration of school music in 1985.

To show our support we will feature a music “quote of the day” in the daily
announcements. We also encourage students to wear shirts that promote
music. “Music Mondays” will be our big day but feel free to show your
support for music any/all days of the week.

Pamphlets in the MS office

*There should be no photos or videos taken backstage it is still part of
the school day. We will make an exception when we are in makeup, but never
when we are backstage and waiting to go on.

*I will attach the photo form – I think the photo will be taken March 14th,
but I can’t say that for sure yet. I will release the final week schedule
next week.

*The T-shirts have been ordered. I have ordered a few extras. It will be
a first come first serve basis for those of you that did not get your order
in.

*I could also use a parent next week and the following week in the halls to
help with supervision. You will need a background check; however, it is a
great way to get to know our cast!

Below you will find a sign-up genius for the takedown of the art show and
striking (taking down) of the set. This will need to be done on the final
night of the play. We need all hand on deck to make that happen.

I’ve also listed clean-ups that still have a few slots open. 🙂

Tickets are available in the Middle School Office – They will go fast
because we have a big cast. Please make sure you get yours early!

Tickets are now on sale for Annie Junior at Sheboygan Falls Middle School.
The show will be March 15 at 7:00 pm; 16th at 7:00 pm, and the 17th at 1:00

March 16th will be a Beach Party bag lunch menu- Menu on line has been
updated. Bring a towel or what you want to sit on the floor. We will be
having the Art displays up to show off during the play.

Announcements March 2nd 2018
March 2nd, 2018

Any 8th grade girls who are interested in going out for volleyball next
year at the high school, should attend an informational meeting at
11:30 on Thursday,
March 8th in the Middle School gym lobby.

Music In Our Schools Month® or “MIOSM®” is the National Association for
Music Education’s

annual celebration during March which engages music educators, students,
and communities from around the country in promoting the benefits of high
quality music education programs in schools.

Music In Our Schools Month® began as a single statewide Advocacy Day and
celebration in New York in 1973 and grew over the decades to become a
month-long celebration of school music in 1985.

To show our support we will feature a music “quote of the day” in the daily
announcements. We also encourage students to wear shirts that promote
music. “Music Mondays” will be our big day but feel free to show your
support for music any/all days of the week.

“Quote of the Day”

“Music doesn’t lie. If there is something to be changed in this world,
then it can only happen through music.”

*Jimi Hendrix*

from home. Please don’t buy new items, but instead borrow from friends,
shop resale shops, etc. All items brought from home should have the
students name printed on the inside. They should be brought to school *no
later than Weds. March 7th* and *placed into cast locker*. View the posted
video for ideas for orphan costumes. All questions can be directed to Mrs.
Fiorini at 920-467-7880 X4125 <(920)%20467-7880>or at
[email protected]

*CALLING ALL ANNIE ORPHANS!!* Please join Mrs. Fiorini in her room on
THURSDAY to discuss costume needs. *PICK UP YOUR LUNCH AT THE START OF YOUR
RECESS/LUNCH PERIOD* and bring it to room 125. We’ll see you there!

STUDENTS~~~IMPORTANT!!!:

Please check over the Yearbook Proof pages posters hanging in your
grade-level hallway. Check to make sure your picture is on it, your name
spelled correctly, and in the correct spot alphabetically.

Contact Mrs. Mansker in room 201 by THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 2nd if there any

“8th grade students who are part of the Great Discussions conference at St.
Norbert’s on March 7th, please meet in the office during the 7th/8th grade
lunch on Friday March 2nd to discuss the logistics of travel and
conference. Those 8th grade students are Cole M. Chase K., Nathan K, Alex
B., and Hudson K. Thank you. – Mr. Shircel”

Three weeks until the show! We will be rehearsing until 5:00 this week.
Mrs. Fiorini will be sending information regarding costumes soon and later
this week or next week Mrs. Fisher will be sending information regarding
make-up. Here are a couple of reminders

**If you do not have your fee paid or concussion/code forms in by Feb.
28th you will no longer be allowed to be in the show.* Please see me if
this is an issue.

*Please bring something quiet to do during rehearsals. There are 115
students in the production and we want you to practice being quiet. It is
expected.

The show will be March 15 at 7:00 pm; 16th at 7:00 pm, and the 17th at 1:00
pm and 7:00 pm. $5.00 for Adults and $3.00 for Students and Seniors, 5 and
under are free. We have a dual cast, so please check with your performer
to see what show they are in. Tickets can be purchased in the Middle School
Office. It is a general seating performance.
