April 11-15, 2016 is Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week. The NWS
\nwill issue a statewide mock tornado warning drill at 1:4, the drill will
\nend at 2pm. This drill will be an ideal opportunity for school staff and
\nstudents to practice their safety procedures for severe weather.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Fischer is planning an Art Enrichment field trip to *JMKAC
\non Thursday, April 28*. It is optional for interested art students. The
\nfirst 50 students from 7th and 8th grade may attend. We will leave
\naround 9:10 and be back around 11:45. If 7th graders are in band, they
\ncannot go, as they will be gone at a festival already that day. Also, 8th
\ngraders in 3rd and 4th hour science cannot go, as they will be presenting
\nCell City projects that morning.<\/p>\n

*Silverware:* Spring cleaning or cleaning out someone\u2019s house? Have old or
\nmismatched forks and spoons? Send them to school! We prefer to use the
\n\u201creal stuff\u201d instead of plastic for a better dining experience. We also
\nfeel this will save the landfills from all the plastic, this in part of an
\nEarth Day recycling event. You can drop in the office of any of our
\nschools. Thank you!<\/p>\n
April 11-15 is National Library Week. Help us celebrate by entering our
\ncontest. All you have to do is guess how many items the library has in its
\ncollection. The contest ends at noon on Friday, April 15. The individuals
\nwith the closest guess will win a Barnes and Noble gift card. While you
\nare in the library, don’t forget to check out a book or two. (The contest
\nis open to both students and staff.)<\/p>\n
*ACTION ROOM HAPPENINGS!*<\/p>\n
*ECO NATURE CLUB! *Join the club created by kids like you who have a
\npassion for nature and an interest in learning how to take care of our
\nenvironment. The club is open to all students in grades five through
\neight. We will brainstorm and research topics to determine what our
\nprojects this year will be. Some of the things we will explore include
\nvermiposting (WORMS!), gardening, animal studies and continuing to build
\nour greenhouse out of recyclable materials. If you\u2019d like to join this
\nstudent directed club, complete and return the participation slip to Mrs.
\nFiorini! Meetings will be held during recess periods and during
\nafter-school hours, with the details of those meetings always shared in
\nadvance through school announcements. As some meetings are held after
\nschool, a permission slip is required. Pick one up from the ACTION Room
\nbulletin board or see Mrs. Fiorini with questions.<\/p>\n
\n*St. Jude Math-a-thon*: Over the past twelve years, SFMS raised over
\n$33,620.00 for children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!! It is
\ntime to kick off this fundraiser once again! Between now and April 27th,
\nstudents will have the opportunity to participate in the 2016 SFMS St. Jude
\nMath-a-thon. Sign up, collect sponsors, solve cool math problems, and earn
\nprizes*…but most importantly*, help the children and families at St. Jude
\nChildren’s Research Hospital. In addition, one participating student from
\neach grade level will be randomly selected to receive a pair of Marc Cinema
\nmovie passes AND the math class *with the highest number of contributing
\nparticipants* will earn a class popcorn party!!! Students will also be
\neligible to receive prizes from the St. Jude organizers.* Funbooks will be
\ndistributed via math teachers this week to all those who signed up to
\nparticipate. If you missed the sign up, but are interested in

\na middle school our goal will be to help reduce the amount of trash that
\ngoes into the landfill, and even work on reducing the amount of food that
\ngoes in the trash as well. This will be an entire school effort from the
\nkitchen staff right to our students that we hope to continue after Earth
\nDay. Menu for that day is Corn Dogs, not preboated (count out 6), mashed
\npotatoes, gravy and carrots\/ dip, watermelon\/ mango and Dirt cake. There
\nwill not be extra containers to put ketchup and dip in. Just place the
\ncondiments on your tray with the food you’re using it on. Below are a few
\nideas to help you pack your own waste free lunch.<\/p>\n

\nthe fun on May 14th for the inaugural Flying Falcons 5K Color Run\/Walk
\nbeing held on the Sheboygan Falls Elementary School campus. The event will
\nalso have a 2 mile option. Compete for a time or just do it to get doused
\nin color but it is a guaranteed fun time! Early bird entries are due by April
