Again &#8211; our winners of the $25 Barnes and Noble Gift<br \/>\nCertificates are Mr. JR Lesperance and Eli Ostwald &#8211; Congratulations!!*<\/p>\n<p>Music Students &#8211; Scholarship are available from Mrs. Charbonneau and Mrs.<br \/>\nWinkler for summer music camps.  If you are interested, see us for a paper<br \/>\nform or let us know and we can e-mail one to you.  They are due May 4th.<br \/>\nThanks!<\/p>\n<p>The Sheboygan Falls School District Music Department will be presenting a<br \/>\n\u201cJazz Appreciation Month\u201d Concert on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in<br \/>\nthe Sheboygan Falls High School Auditorium located at 220 Amherst Avenue in<br \/>\nSheboygan Falls. Featured performing groups include the Sheboygan Falls<br \/>\nMiddle School Jazz Ensemble directed by Carrie Winkler, the Sheboygan Falls<br \/>\nHigh School Jazz Ensemble directed by Derek Beekhuizen, and the Generations<br \/>\nBig Band under the direction of Jeff Schieble. The Generations Big Band<br \/>\nwill be premiering a new work by trombonist Mike Venn. Admission is $5 and<br \/>\nthe doors will open at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Fischer is planning an Art Enrichment field trip to *JMKAC<br \/>\non Thursday, April 28*.  It is optional for interested art students. The<br \/>\nfirst 50 students from 7th and 8th grade may attend.  We will leave<br \/>\naround 9:10 and be back around 11:45. If 7th graders are in band, they<br \/>\ncannot go, as they will be gone at a festival already that day. Also, 8th<br \/>\ngraders in 3rd and 4th hour science cannot go, as they will be presenting<br \/>\nCell City projects that morning.<\/p>\n<p>See Mrs. Fischer for any questions!<br \/>\nThese students have turned in permission slips and are going:  Avery O,<br \/>\nTayler O, Clara S, Jacon T, Ashley S, Elliot G, Beth S, Krista O, Abigail<br \/>\nK, Ursula H, Sierra M, Melissa W, Evan P, Claire S.<\/p>\n<p>*Silverware:* Spring cleaning or cleaning out someone\u2019s house? Have old or<br \/>\nmismatched forks and spoons? Send them to school! We prefer to use the<br \/>\n\u201creal stuff\u201d instead of plastic for a better dining experience. We also<br \/>\nfeel this will save the landfills from all the plastic, this in part of an<br \/>\nEarth Day recycling event. You can drop in the office of any of our<br \/>\nschools. Thank you!<\/p>\n<p>*ACTION ROOM HAPPENINGS~ Week of April 18th!*<\/p>\n<p>*ECO NATURE CLUB!* Join the club created by kids like you who have a<br \/>\npassion for nature and an interest in learning how to take care of our<br \/>\nenvironment.  The club is open to all students in grades five through<br \/>\neight.  We will brainstorm and research topics to determine what our<br \/>\nprojects this year will be.  Some of the things we might explore include<br \/>\nvermiposting (WORMS!), gardening, animal studies and continuing to build<br \/>\nour greenhouse out of recyclable materials. If you\u2019d like to join this<br \/>\nstudent directed club, p*ick up your lunch at the start of the lunch recess<br \/>\nperiod and come to the ACTION Room on Weds. As<br \/>\na middle school our goal will be to help reduce the amount of trash that<br \/>\ngoes into the landfill, and even work on reducing the amount of food that<br \/>\ngoes in the trash as well.  This will be an entire school effort from the<br \/>\nkitchen staff right to our students that we hope to continue after Earth<br \/>\nDay.  Menu for that day is Corn Dogs, not preboated (count out 6), mashed<br \/>\npotatoes, gravy and carrots\/ dip, watermelon\/ mango and Dirt cake. There<br \/>\nwill not be extra containers to put ketchup and dip in. Just place the<br \/>\ncondiments on your tray with the food you&#8217;re using it on. The event will<br \/>\nalso have a 2 mile option. Compete for a time or just do it to get doused<br \/>\nin color but it is a guaranteed fun time! Early bird entries are due by April<br \/>\n15th. All of these things<br \/>\ncan happen right in our lunch room.<\/p>\n<p>1.     Trying to swallow large pieces of poorly chewed food<\/p>\n<p>2.     Eating while talking excitedly or laughing<\/p>\n<p>3.     Eating too fast<\/p>\n<p>4.     Walking, playing or running with food our objects in the mouth<\/p>\n<p>The universal sign of choking is to put both of your hands over your<br \/>\nthroat.  There are people in the lunch room who are trained to help you if<br \/>\nchoking occurs.  Someone who is coughing should continue to cough.  If you<br \/>\nare choking and cannot talk and cannot cough give the universal choking<br \/>\nsign.
