What do you do if you are being bullied?<\/p>\n
A good first step is to tell the person to stop, using a calm body and
\nvoice. Before you say anything, you will need to decide if it\u2019s safe
\nbecause sometimes it is not a good idea to confront the bully on your own.
\nThe following are examples of when it would NOT be a good idea to confront
\na bully on your own.<\/p>\n
The person bullying you is older or bigger than you are.<\/p>\n
More than one person is ganging up on on.<\/p>\n
You have no friends who can help you.<\/p>\n
No adult is nearby.<\/p>\n
You feel trapped.<\/p>\n
If you decide it is safe to confront the bully, you can refuse to be
\nbullied by taking these steps:<\/p>\n
Look straight at the bully with your head held high.<\/p>\n
Speak respectfully and use a calm, clear voice.<\/p>\n
Say, \u201cThat\u2019s bullying and you need to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n
Walk away calmly.<\/p>\n
To refuse bullying safely, it\u2019s important that you don\u2019t get so mad that
\nyou end up losing your temper and getting into a fight. As you refuse
\nbullying, be sure that you:<\/p>\n
Remind yourself to stay cool and calm by taking a deep breath. Imagine
\nyourself speaking in a strong, clear respectful voice.<\/p>\n
Keep in mind that bullies are less likely to target people who are in a
\ngroup or those who walk tall with their heads held high. Even if you don\u2019t
\nalways feel self-confident, faking it is okay!<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t forget to wear black next Wednesday to support being a Bully Free
\nSchool!<\/p>\n
Several churches in the community are teaming up with Salvation Army in
\nSheboygan to help families in need of assistance this Christmas. The
\nSalvation Army is having intake day on Thursday Oct. 13th from 2 \u2013 6 pm,
\nand again on Monday Nov. 14th from2 \u2013 5 pm, but (the Nov. date is not going
\nto be advertised).<\/p>\n

Words cannot express how proud I am to know each and every one of you. Your

\nseason is rapidly approaching. Before the first day of practice on October
\n24 after school in MS gym 3:30-5, you need to have all of your paperwork
\ncompleted and turned in to the office. Don’t leave it for the last minute
\nbecause you may need a physical exam, which involves a visit to a doctor.

*It\u2019s time to sign up for MS conferences:* Thursday, October 13th 4-8pm,
\nand Tuesday, October 18th 4-7pm. Here are the steps when signing up for
\nconferences go to the district website and click on Family on top, then to
\nthe right go to Family Resources. Half way down on the page you will see an
\nicon that says Parent Teacher Conference Registration. Click on the school
\non the right hand side. If you need assistance call the MS at 467-7880.
\nPlease limit your child to 2 teachers, this will help allow room for
\neveryone to get a time slot. If you feel the need to meet with more than 2
\nteachers for each child, please e-mail those teachers to schedule at
\nanother time. Fifth grade parents will be getting a note in their child\u2019s
\nfolder letting them know which teacher to schedule conferences with. It
\nwill be with just their homeroom teacher. That teacher will have all your
\nchild\u2019s information to share with you from the other teachers that your

Future Falconettes Dance Mini-Camp with the Sheboygan Falls Varsity Dance
\nTeam! Friday, October 14th. This camp is open to all students grades 1-8.
\nThe cost is $25 in advance, $30 at the door and includes a t-shirt, Poms,
\nand dinner. Please stop in the MS office for more information and
\nregistration form.<\/p>\n
The eighth grade class will be participating in a Coastal Restoration
\nStewardship Day on October 25, 2016. This citizen science program connects
\nto environmental concepts covered in science class and our Make a
\nDifference Week focus of Attitude of Gratitude. On October 25th we will
\nbe leaving school at 9:00 to go to King Park to plant native Dune Plants.
\nUpon our return to school, about 1:00, we will be eating lunch where
\nstudents will have the option of eating hot lunch.
