Research studies have shown that keeping a 5 minute a<br \/>\nday gratitude journal will increase your long term well being more than<br \/>\nwinning a million dollars in the lottery.<\/p>\n<p>Would you like to save hundreds of dollars for your family every year and<br \/>\navert thousands of pieces of trash? This week we<br \/>\nare also celebrating our Make A Difference Week by having an Attitude of<br \/>\nGratitude!<\/p>\n<p>\nYou can all make a difference! Always be kind and make everyone feel<br \/>\nwelcome! It\u2019s never okay to criticize or be mean to someone because he or<br \/>\nshe is different from you. We feel good about ourselves when other people<br \/>\ncare about our feelings and are kind to us. So make a difference by being<br \/>\nkind to everyone, even if they are different!<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to all of those who supported our Bully Free cause by wearing<br \/>\nblack today and throughout the month of October! Remember to follow this<br \/>\nmonth\u2019s bullying tips and to treat your classmates well! Always be kind and<br \/>\nmake others feel welcome! This helps make our school a safer and friendlier<br \/>\nplace to be. Players should enter through the Gym Lobby doors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;7th and 8th graders, there will be an informational meeting for students<br \/>\ninterested in FBLA during the 7th\/8th grade lunch in Mr. Shircel&#8217;s room<br \/>\n(219) on Friday, October 28th. FBLA involves students taking tests and<br \/>\ngiving presentations about business, thus gaining the skills to become the<br \/>\nbusiness leaders of tomorrow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>*WHAT&#8217;S POPPING IN THE ACTION ROOM?*<\/p>\n<p>*AUTUMN SCIENCE CHALLENGE~ *Challenge- Use scientific principles to<\/p>\n<p>determine what \u201csubstance\u201d to place into a two liter bottle, which will<\/p>\n<p>best allow the bottle to roll slooooowly down an inclined ramp. Experiment<br \/>\nand design your bottle at home and bring it to school during the week<br \/>\nof October 31st to compete!<\/p>\n<p>*AUTUMN MATH CHALLENGE~* You are the caterer of a Halloween Picnic!  Use<br \/>\nyour math smarts to manage the many tasks needed for a successful event!<br \/>\nWork on the challenge independently and then share on Monday, November<br \/>\n7th in the ACTION Room.<\/p>\n<p>*INFO FOR BOTH CHALLENGES CAN BE FOUND ON THE ACTION ROOM BULLETIN BOARD.<br \/>\nSEE MRS. This Friday, October 28th, the<br \/>\nFalcon Way will be hosting the 4th annual Movie Night here at the middle<br \/>\nschool from 3:30 &#8211; 5:00.  The featured movie is Hotel Transylvania II.<br \/>\nThere is no admission fee.  Family members are welcome to join.  The<br \/>\nstudent council will be selling snacks for a small fee during the movie.<br \/>\nPick up permission slips in the office or next to the Falcon Way Prize<br \/>\nBox.  Permission slips in the school office.<\/p>\n<p>Attention SFMS Staff and Students &#8211; Did you know that in Wisconsin alone<br \/>\nmore than 200,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year? Let&#8217;s<br \/>\nshow our support and wear pink on Monday, October 31st as Breast Cancer<br \/>\nAwareness month comes to a close. Wouldn&#8217;t it be neat to have the entire<br \/>\nschool filled with pink to show our support?<\/p>\n<p>This year the SDSF, in conjunction with Make a Difference Week, is striving<br \/>\nto create less trash during lunch.   A typical American school kid<br \/>\ngenerates 67 pounds of discarded lunchbox packaging waste per school year.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s more than 18,000 pounds annually for an average-size elementary<br \/>\nschool, which adds up nationwide to more than 1 billion pounds annually. A<br \/>\ntypical U.S. family using disposables generates more than 4,000 pieces of<br \/>\nlunch trash unnecessarily each year, according to our ECO lunchboxes<br \/>\nLunchbox Waste Study 2010.   The 1st WASTE FREE LUNCH is Oct. 26th.<br \/>\nDomino\u2019s pizza, Steamed Broccoli Florets, Ranch Salad, Fresh Blueberries,<br \/>\nFresh Apple. There will not be extra containers to put ketchup and dip in.<br \/>\nJust place the condiments on your tray with the food you&#8217;re using it on.<br \/>\nOn the back are a few ideas to help you pack your own waste-free lunch.<\/p>\n<p>*Attention 7th and 8th grade students! We will be holding<br \/>\nthe Falcon Store on Wednesday, October 26th in the cafeteria. This is an<br \/>\nopportunity for all students to spend their falcon feathers earned by<br \/>\n\u201cstaying above the line\u201d on awesome prizes like snacks, school supplies,<br \/>\nand more!*<\/p>\n<p>*For one falcon feather you can purchase items like pens or pencils. For<br \/>\ntwo, you can purchase fruit roll-ups, suckers, or Sharpies. Three feathers<br \/>\ncan get you chips. With four feathers, you can buy cool notebooks or<br \/>\nsnacks. Those who have earned five feathers can buy Gatorade!*<\/p>\n<p>*Rules will be posted about making purchases.*<\/p>\n<p>*Be sure to save those hard earned falcon feathers so you can experience<br \/>\nthe falcon store\u2026brought to you by the falcon way!
