<\/p>\nAttention 8th grade students in Mrs. Fischer’s Art Classes: Friday, May 12,
\nwe will be going on a field trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum. We will
\nleave around 8:30 and get back around 2:30. We need about 10 adult
\nchaperones (a parent or grandparent, etc.) for our trip. Parents, if you
\nare interested, please email Mrs. Fischer so we can hold a spot for you!
\nChaperones are free. Background check forms for chaperones are available in
\nthe office or on the district website.<\/p>\n

1) Start with serving size<\/p>\n
Once you have a clear sense of what the listed serving size,
\nthink about how much you might eat in one setting and change the rest of
\nthe numbers to determine the actual calorie and nutrient amounts you will
\ningest.<\/p>\n
2) Calories<\/p>\n
When you have calculated the actual number of calories you
\nmight consume in a serving, think about how that fits in with the rest of
\nthe calories you will take in that day as well as how many calories you
\nmight burn through physical activity.<\/p>\n
3) Foods to Limit<\/p>\n
In general you want low numbers when it comes to fats
\n(especially saturated and trans fat), cholesterol, sugar, and sodium.<\/p>\n
4) Foods to Love<\/p>\n
Foods that are high in fiber and protein are smarter choices
\nbecause they will leave you feeling fuller while providing energy. The
\nminerals and vitamins help round out a healthy diet by protecting against
\ndisease while helping to maintain metabolism.<\/p>\n
5) Keep it in Perspective<\/p>\n
The % DV (Daily Value) is the percent of each nutrient in a
\nsingle serving in terms of the daily recommended amount, based upon
\nconsuming 2000 calories daily. Without this clue the rest of the numbers
\nmight not help that much as it can be hard to remember the recommendations
\non the average amounts a person should<\/p>\n
