*Basketball News!!* Sheboygan Falls\u2019 Boys basketball camp for boys
\nentering 4th grade through 9th grade is *June 25**th** through June 28**th*.
\n Learn the fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, passing, scoring, and
\nplaying defense from the Sheboygan Falls’ basketball coaching staff and
\nplayers. Camp forms are located in the office or you can pick one up from
\nMr. Frohling at the middle school.<\/p>\n

Are you a fan of reading? Maybe you enjoy crafts, drawing, acting, and
\nother activities. Reading Explorations is a great opportunity do all that
\nand more! During this summer school course, we will read a piece of popular
\nfiction – like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, The Chronicles of Narnia –
\nand then create character sketches, create skits, build scene models and so
\nmuch more. The 8:00am class still has openings, and it’s not too late too
\nregister! You can register online; if you have questions, see Ms. Dekanich.<\/p>\n

*It’s up to you as Nancy Drew! * Come and have fun helping Nancy solve
\ncases. It’s not too late to register for June summer school. I will be
\nrunning two SmartBoard Nancy Drew classes again this year and there are
\nmany other fun classes available. There is busing and meals available for
\nsummer school. The course offerings and registration are available online
\nthrough the district website, or see me for a paper copy. Mrs. Powers<\/p>\n

I wanted to make you aware of a drama opportunity here at Sheboygan Falls
\nMiddle School the week of July 30th – August 3rd. Compass Creative
\nDramatics is holding a drama camp at our middle school. Their production
\nis \u00a8Alice in Wonderalnd\u00a8 and it has 10 free spots available. If you think
\nyou would be interested in attending this camp. Please e-mail me and I

The Falcon Way and Student Council is partnering together to bring to YOU a
\nBONUS Falcon Way Prize. YOU may enter your Falcon Feathers to win 2 slices
\nof pizza, 1 soda and 1 ice cream during the next dance on April 27th, which
\nis a Green Day. One winner will be selected from each grade level. All
\nyou need to do to win is STAY ABOVE THE LINE and enter your Falcon Feathers
\nin the BONUS PRIZE BOX located next to the Falcon Way Prize Box by the
\nrecess doors. Keep making EXPECTED choices!<\/p>\n

Have you thought about your summer plans? Lakeland Music Camp is July
\n22nd-28th. This camp is available for all music students in grades 6-12.
\nThis camp provides housing and meals for 6 amazing days of music! Whether
\nyou are a band, chorus, piano, or string player we have what you need to
\nmake this summer memorable. For more information log on to:
\nlakeland.edu\/Inside-Lakeland\/music-camp<\/a> Summer Music Camp
\nscholarships are available for chorus and band students in 7th and 8th
\ngrade and by invitation only in 6th grade. Application forms can be picked
\nup from Mrs. Charbonneau or Mrs. Winkler. Summer Music Camp Scholarship
\nApplications are due Friday, April 27th.<\/p>\n

To recognize Earth Day 2018 SFMS is going to have a waste- free lunch on
\n4\/23. The average student creates about 67 pounds of lunch trash each
\nyear. As a school district we want reduce the amount of trash that goes
\ninto the landfill, and even work on reducing the amount of food that goes
\nin the trash as well.<\/p>\n

On April 23rd the menu will be: Chicken Tenders, French Bread Pizza,
\nSteamed Vegetables, Brown Rice, Fresh Veggies, Oranges. There will not be
\nextra containers to put ketchup and dip in. Just place the condiments on
\nyour tray with the food you’re using it on.<\/p>\n

Eighth Graders have the opportunity to purchase a photo of the Class of
\n2018 (the group picture that was taken in front of the building on the
\nsnowy day).<\/p>\n

There are two options:<\/p>\n

20 x 10 inch photo print $20.00<\/p>\n

10 x 5 inch photo print $10.00<\/p>\n

Prints are posted on the office window for you to view.<\/p>\n

Pictures may be purchased Online or by completing the form that will be
\nhanded out Thursday during their homeroom class. Deadline date to hand an
\norder in at school is May 4th.<\/p>\n

**NOTE: There is a Shipping\/Handling fee for all orders placed Online. It
\nis waived for orders shipped to school.<\/p>\n

FBLA will be having their wrap-up meeting Thursday, April 19, after school
\nin Ms. Probst’s room. Come and enjoy pizza and talk about our successes and
\nregionals feedback, as well as ideas for next year.<\/p>\n

Expected Behaviors on the Swings- Hello students, we are noticing some
\nunexpected behaviors on the swings.<\/p>\n

Here are a few quick reminders:<\/p>\n

1. Students can use their legs to push themselves – *NO ONE* should push
\nthem.<\/p>\n

2. Students waiting for a turn should wait in a single file line, count to
\n200, and then they can ask for a turn.<\/p>\n

3. Students on the swings need to be thoughtful of students waiting and
\ntake turns.<\/p>\n

*Health Tip:*<\/p>\n

Stress impacts everyone at some point in their life. Stress can have
\nnegative effects on your health over time. Some examples of identifying
\nstress are listed below:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Irritability and moodiness<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Withdrawing from or refusing to participate in activities they
\npreviously enjoyed<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Expressing worry<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Complaining<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Crying<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Being fearful<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Clinging to a parent or teacher<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Changes in sleep patterns: sleeping too much or too little<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Changes in eating: eating too much or not enough<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Teens may be better able to explain what they are feeling but
\nmay withdraw from family, choosing instead to open up to friends. While
\nthis is a normal part of growing up, you also need to be aware if your teen
\nwithdraws too much, avoiding interaction with parents.<\/p>\n

Both young children and teens may have physical signs of stress including
\nheadaches and stomachaches. They may also use different words, such as
\n“worried,” “confused,” “annoyed” or “angry” or put themselves down, such as
\n“I am stupid.” or “No one likes me.”<\/p>\n

There are ways to help yourself and students manage stress. Some examples
\ninclude: talking with someone, acknowledging that everyone experiences
\nstress at some point in their life, plan fun activities, get outside and
\nexercise, and look for or help your child find solutions vs. blaming
\nothers.<\/p>\n

Your nurses want you to eat right, get appropriate amounts of sleep, and
\nget out an exercise for at least 20 min a day, and push that stress away!<\/p>\n
