9/25 Announcements

*HIGH SCHOOL*

*September 25, 2017*

*Jostens *will be back to take your class ring orders on Wednesday,
September 27th during lunch in the cafeteria. Please bring your computer
print-out form or your completed order form. Extra packets are available in
the office to anyone interested.

*It’s Deaf Awareness Week!!* Did you know… A mild hearing loss can
cause a child to miss as much as 50% of classroom discussion. (CHC
hearing.org/facts-about-hearing-loss/) Don’t forget to enter this week’s
raffle by showing Mrs. Miota a new sign you’ve learned from one of the many
sign language websites. She will be available to guess your sign between
classes and during lunch. Today’s theme is food signs. Tomorrow’s theme
is animal signs. See Room A240 for more details!!

*Make Study Time a part of your daily routine*. Consistency is key and
making time for studying every day can help you retain the information and
be less stressed when taking tests or quizzes.

*It’s Banned Books Week – Celebrate your freedom to read!*

You may be surprised to learn that many of the books you have read were
once banned.

· *Harry Potter* – Promotes witchcraft!

· *Tarzan* – Jane and Tarzan lived together in the jungle, but were not
married!

· *The Diary of Anne Frank* – Too depressing!

· *The Wizard of Oz* – Had women in leadership roles…Oh My!!

· *Charlotte’s Web* – Talking animals must be the work of the devil!

Stop in the library to check out a book that you are “forbidden” to read!

*Boston Store is hiring at Deer Trace Plaza*. Looking for receiving/dock
associates and holiday seasonal associates. Please see the flyer posted in
the cafeteria hallway for more information.

*Bread & Bean is looking for dishwashers!* Eight –ten hours per week. Fill
out an application at Bread and Bean.
