Issue: #3  Spring 2015

A message from Lynn Bub, Elementary School Principal

Greetings, Falcon Families!

Spring is a time of renewal and growth, and we are definitely seeing great renewal and growth in our building!  Here are some of the exceptional things you can expect to see and hear more about!

Recently, our elementary science committee and STEAM staff met to discuss our plans for the future.  We are excited to share that we have committed to provide some forms of STEAM approaches to learning in ALL classrooms in our building.

  • Our Makerspace has become popular and well-used. While third and fourth grade are our current users, expect to see more opportunities for our younger Makers to have a chance at the invention bench.
  • 4K is moving!  Next year’s youngest district learners will share learning space at the elementary school, giving them a chance to grow strong roots in our building.
  • Our literacy processes continue to grow!  Teachers piloting Words Their Way (spelling approach) have had a chance to share their learnings with their colleagues and plan for our word work with students for the future. Students have enjoyed looking at words in a while new way.

Should you have specific questions on any of our exciting work, as always, please contact your child’s teacher, Mr. Mike Nikson ([email protected] ), or Mrs. Lynn Bub ([email protected] ).  Thank you for your continued support and participation in our school community!

Sincerely,
Lynn Bub
Principal

Changes To Elementary 4K Program Directly Support Student Learning
So that the School District of Sheboygan Falls can provide the best educational program for all students, elementary principal Lynn Bub asked the Board of Education to consider a recommendation to move the 4K program, currently housed at the middle school, to the elementary school. At its recent meeting, Bub provided members of the Board with her rationale for the change.Read More

Make a Difference Week!
Our students recently participate in the second annual Make a Difference Week. Students were encouraged to dress up, donate to Operation Gratitude and fill our their helping hands. The students did a great job participating and making the building a better learning community.

New Reading Rug from the PTO
The Elementary PTO recently purchased a new reading rug for our library. The kids and staff LOVE it! A big thank you goes out to the PTO for your support throughout the building.

Innovation at SFES
The staff at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School always create new and inventive ways to teach the students. For example, the Physical Education teachers taught all about the heart by creating a heart obstacle course and Mrs. Haines recently opened the elementary school Makerspace.
