On March 9th, parents have the opportunity to meet once again with teachers regarding their child’s progress. Although spring conferences may not be necessary for every student, please know that we are happy to share development progress at anytime. You are encouraged to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) and keep the lines of communication open as your child’s social, emotional, and academic success is important to us. We value you and your commitment to your’s child’s education here at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School. For more information, please use the link below.
Finally, in April, our third and fourth grade students will be taking the Wisconsin Forward Exam. This exam was designed with the intention to assess how well our SFES students are performing in relation to the WI Academic Standards. Students in third grade are assessed in Math and English/Language Arts (ELA) and students in fourth grade are assessed in Math, ELA, Social Students and Science. Throughout the month of March, our students will have the opportunity to try out the online features before taking the exam in April. For more information, please view the brochure from the WI Department of Public Instruction.
The District Office will be sending out a district-wide newsletter to our community. It includes stories about how we deliver on our mission, vision and commitments. In addition, it includes middle school construction updates. In case you do not receive it in your mailbox at your residence, you can also check it out online at the district website:
In February, third grade students visited the Siberian Outpost as part of their learning surrounding the Iditarod. Students learn about how to care for the sled dogs, mushing, and details about Jim’s Siberian Outpost business. Leading up to this field trip, students studied the Iditarod in their Science, Social Studies and Literacy classes.

AUTHOR VISIT
On February 7th, students at SFES were treated to a visit from author Marla McKenna. Ms. McKenna read her book, Mom’s Big Catch to our students in addition to speaking more about what it means to be an author.
WE COLLABORATE
Students in Mrs. Loehr’s Kindergarten classroom and students in Mrs. Grunwald’s 4th grade classroom collaborated on a Bookworm Gardens proposal. Together, students designed a space for Bookworm Gardens around the themes from the book, The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires. The winner will be chosen on March 15th.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
Congratulations to our SFES students for raising over $12,000 for Jump Rope for Heart sponsored by the American Heart Association. The students pictured raised the most money this year.
