Getting in the Olympic Spirit at SFES
With the help of Mr. Houwers and Mr. Johnson, students at SFES are getting into the Olympic spirit! On Thursday, February 8th students and staff will come together for our opening ceremony. Fourth grade students have been busy painting and creating flags to represent countries from around the world. Students will participate in Olympic events throughout the month of February in their physical education classes. Many thanks to Mr. Houwers and Mr. Johnson for bringing our school community together to connect our students and staff to the global community through this event.

Mrs. Schaefer’s class went on a noun hunt! They searched low and high throughout the halls of SFES to search for nouns.

All K-12 Summer School classes to be held at Sheboygan Falls High School.
In order to accommodate the construction on the elementary and new middle school sites, and keep students out of harm’s way during the final stages of construction, all K-12 summer school courses will be held at the high school campus. District administration is in the process of planning with teachers, office staff, and custodial staff to make the single campus experience manageable for all students.

 From Our Nurses
As the winter weather continues, and we go from rain to freezing rain to snow please remember safety. This is important as you navigate icy roads and sidewalks. If you feel yourself losing your balance, tuck into a ball and keep your head and face away from the fall. Do not put your hand out to catch yourself or you may risk breaking your arms or wrists. Instead take small steps and try to keep your center of gravity over your front leg. This is a term called “walk like a penguin” The “waddle” keeps your center of gravity over your front leg.

Tips for walking safely in winter weather:
  • Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination
  • Wear shoes or boots with good traction
  • Walk at a slower pace
  • Stay on designated walkways
  • Use handrails when using stairs and entering/exiting buildings.
