SFES Communicator – May 2019
May 2019
Message from the Principals
What an exciting year of learning it has been! We hope you will keep the learning going over summer in whatever way works for your family. Read those menus, books, and magazines together, do some measuring, counting or experimenting, and enjoy the different kinds of learning that summer brings. Check out these

Pod-tacular Celebration Week
This year, we are excited to kick off the last week of school with a celebration of learning for each Pod, called Pod-tacular. Your child will have special activities during this time along with a video created just for them, of them. Please send your child to school wearing the specific pod color of the day as we celebrate and reminisce at the same time!

Remember, due to our snow days, June 7 is now a full day of school for our students!
PikMyKid

Coming 2019-2020 school year will be a new process to pick your child up from school. We will be working with PikMyKid to create new pick up procedures for your convenience. Prior to the start of the school year, PikMyKid will need to access family information such as, email, phone number, address, and students name. This information will allow us to get the system up and running in September. Look for more information this summer at and registration.
Music Performances – Tuneful, Beatful, Artful
Kudos to Stephanie Stowers and Sally Haines for trying some new approaches to student performance and opportunities for students to share their skills. On May 7th, the third grade held a folk dance “informance” to teach their families what they have learned about the purpose and techniques of folk dancing. Families got to participate and it was an enjoyable, educational evening.

On May 9 and 10, SFES again hosted Claudia Eliaza as musician in residence. More kudos to our music teachers for organizing this event for our students.
Counselor’s Corner
As summertime draws near, along with all of the fun activities that will occur, many students will have increased free time. During this free time, many kids will go online. We would like to provide you with some useful information about social media and internet awareness. It is important to keep an open dialogue with your
child about their activity online.
