Emotions Play a Role in Learning
CAST Researcher Ms. Alison Posey has worked with our district in our Universal Design for Learning (UDL) implementation and many of our staff are currently reading her book, Engage the BrainHow to design for learning that taps into the power of emotion.
Check out her blog, How Emotions Play a Critical Role in Learning and Attention

Be the “I” in KIND
As we continue to celebrate National Bully Prevention and Awareness Month, we wanted to give you a glimpse at the awesome interactive mural that Art Teacher Mr. Hoes created to represent “Being the I in Kind”.
This is a reminder to students that each of them can make a difference in our school community by being kind and standing up for what is right. Each I adds up to a lot of us!

Building Expert Learners
Fall at the Elementary School has brought field trips, an author visit, safety prevention week, and the end of a successful launch of routines and procedures in the classroom and throughout the building. It sure is great to see our students develop their Expert Learning skills!

We are grateful to all families, staff, and students for being flexible through our adoption of PikMyKid.

We look forward to seeing you at conferences in November,

Lynn Bub, SFES Principal
Shelley Hyde, SFES Associate Principal
