A Message from the Principals

Dear SFHS Falcon Families,

What a fantastic first semester of the 2023-24 school year!  At SFHS, course grades will be finalized by the teachers no later than Friday, January 26th (approximately one week after the conclusion of Final Exams).

The start of a new semester is the perfect opportunity for our students to set new goals, tackle new challenges, and continue the school year with enthusiasm. Our teaching staff is here to assist each student in having a successful finish to the school year.

During Semester 2, we have planned activities, events, and opportunities for students to connect with their fellow students and teachers. We encourage all parents and families to stay involved in your child’s education and make the most of the resources available at Sheboygan Falls High School.

Excellence in Education Nominations

Due: Monday, February 5th

We are excited to announce that twenty-four school districts are partnering with Channel 5 to recognize exceptional school employees in a program called the “Eastern Wisconsin Excellence in Education” awards. This program is similar to the “Golden Apple” and “Shining Stars” programs in Green Bay and the Fox Valley.

This program allows parents, students, community members, and staff to nominate deserving school employees in the following categories:

  • Innovation in work (How has the employee demonstrated innovation in his/her work area?)
  • Culture creator in the work environment (How has the employee gone above and beyond in creating a positive school culture?)
  • Social/emotional well being (How has the employee impacted the social/emotional well being of students and/or the school environment?)
  • Community involvement (How has the employee positively impacted the community?)
  • Student connection (In what ways has the employee built positive relationships with students?)

NOMINATIONS (FORM LINKED HERE) need to be submitted by February 5th, 2024. Following the submission deadline, a panel of judges will review each nomination to determine finalists. These finalists will then be asked to elaborate on the work outlined in the nomination. The judges will then select the award recipients in each of the five categories.

The awards show ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at the Kiel Area School District Performing Arts Center. The program will be live streamed on the Channel 5, WeAreGreenBay.com website.

Did you know that the United States Department of Agriculture has a great website that provides information on proper nutrition guidelines for every age group?  We sometimes hear from students that they are not eating breakfast or skipping lunch for various reasons. Sometimes they say they aren’t hungry. Others may be trying to lose weight due to peer pressure or sports expectations. Check in with your children to ensure they are eating a balanced diet. The following websites have helpful tips and activities regarding nutrition.

A Message from the Principals

Dear SFHS Falcon Families,

As we move further into the holiday season, we would like to say thank you to our parents, families, and community members for all of your support during the school year.

While we have around four weeks of classes until Semester I ends, we want to encourage all students to remain engaged every day. It is very important that students maintain an instructional routine to maximize their learning. Course content is continually progressing and it is imperative for students to keep up with their school work. Families are strongly encouraged to periodically check their child’s progress on Infinite Campus and/or through Canvas.

We at SFHS wish each and every one of you a safe and fulfilling holiday season. As always, we thank you for your active support of your child’s learning and of Sheboygan Falls High School.

A Message from the Nurses

According to the CDC, E-cigarettes are the most commonly used tobacco product among U.S. middle and high school students.

  • In 2022, about 1 in 10 or 2.55 million U.S. middle and high school students used e-cigarettes at least once in the past 30 days, including 3.3% of middle school students and 14.1% of high school students.

Disposable e-cigarettes are the most commonly used device type among U.S. middle and high school students who vape. Vaping can have health risks for youth. Most vapes have nicotine in them, which is highly addictive. Nicotine use in adolescence:

  • Can harm brain development, which continues until about age 25.
  • Can impact attention, learning, mood, and impulse control.
  • May increase risk for future addiction to other drugs.

Nurse Amber and Nurse Deanna both frequently see several kids who make themselves ill via vaping, and some who also become addicted. It is important for you to talk about this topic at home with your children!

Wishing you a safe and healthy holiday season!

A Message from the Principal

Dear SFHS Falcon Families,

Our school year is off to a great start! We are excited about our academic progress and our athletic and extracurricular events as well as the remainder of the school year.

It’s hard to believe, but we are almost through Quarter 1 of the 2023-24 school year. As a result, we are asking you to make note of your child’s Quarter 1 grades to this point. At Sheboygan Falls High School, final grades and credits are only recorded at the end of each semester. Therefore, the grades at any point prior to January 19th are only an indication of course progress part-way through the semester.

If you have questions, I encourage you to check with your son or daughter about assignments, look on Infinite Campus or Canvas for details, and/or contact a teacher to discuss any concerns in more depth.

I invite you and any community members to our Veteran’s Day Program on Friday, November 10th at 9:30am in the HS Auditorium. And, we thank you for your active support of your child’s learning and of Sheboygan Falls High School.

Calendar Changes:

2024-25 and 2025-26 School Years

A Message from the Nurses

STUDENTS WHO HAVE MEDICATION AT SCHOOL – END OF YEAR PROCEDURE:

A reminder that you are expected to pick up your child’s medication at the end of the school year. Unless the student’s medication form indicates that they may carry and administer their own medication (EPI pens, inhalers, emergency medications, etc.), the student may not transport their own medication home. Medication must be picked up prior to the last day of school (June 8th). We cannot store any medication over the summer.

If you do not want the medication remaining, or have any questions, please email Nurse Amber or Nurse Deanna.

Thank you all for helping us successfully make it through another school year!!

Amber Silva, RN, BSN and Deanna Timler, RN, BSN

A Message from the Principal

Dear SFHS Falcon Families,

As the year winds down, it is very important that SFHS students and parents are thinking about the future. Parents, make sure that you are aware of your son’s / daughter’s course selections for next school year. You should know what classes they are registered for and feel comfortable with the level of rigor in the courses selected. This is especially important for current juniors who will be going into their senior year. Colleges have found that students who take a more rigorous course load during their senior year of high school get better grades as college freshmen. If you, as the parent / guardian, are unsure of the classes your child has chosen, feel free to contact Student Services at the SFHS for that information.

Please also help us ensure classroom success for the remainder of the school year by assisting your student with their day-to-day academic work. As always, we thank you for your support and encouragement!

Go Falcons!

April 6th – Canine Search (See email communication sent on April 6th)

April is Severe Weather/Tornado Awareness Month. SFHS conducted our drill on Friday, April 21st, in accordance with the statewide drill. April is a good time to consider your severe weather plan at home and have a quick chat with your family, so everyone knows what to do. For more information, check out this resource from Ready Wisconsin.

Message from World Language Department:

Just a reminder that our school nurses are here to make recommendations based on your child’s health and whether they’re able to remain in attendance at school. They are not licensed to exempt your child from attending school, based on Wisconsin compulsory attendance statute 118.15(3) The school attendance officer may request the parent or guardian of the child to obtain a written statement from a licensed physician, dentist, chiropractor, optometrist, psychologist, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner.

As summer is approaching, don’t forget to make your child’s wellness exams and vaccine appointments. If you wait until fall, it can be very challenging to get in!
