In a world where diversity and inclusion are increasingly taking on the
spotlight, it is crucial to recognize and celebrate the unique
contributions and challenges faced by various communities. Among these
communities, the deaf population and those with hearing disabilities hold a
significant place. In fact, there are currently over 70 million deaf people
<www.un.org/en/observances/sign-languages-day>worldwide. The
International Week of Deaf People, also known as Deaf Awareness Week, is an
annual global event that aims to shed light on the issues faced by the deaf
community, promote their culture and achievements, and foster a more
inclusive society. – Hand Talk

SFHS staff and students participated in Deaf Awareness Week by learning
some words in American Sign Language. Please stop by the cafeteria windows
and check them out!

focus on the road. Let’s all do our part to ensure a safe and enjoyable
