Reminder to please respect the neighbor’s property and stay on the
sidewalks and not in the yards.

The *8th Grade Band* will be performing with the *HS Pep Band* on Tuesday,
January 12, 2016 for the Falls/Valders Boys’ Basketball Game. 8th Grade
Band students should meet in the HS Band Room at 6:30 p.m. to warm-up for
the performance.

Just a reminder that 8th grade Spanish classes are taking the HS placement
test this coming Monday and Tuesday during their regular scheduled Spanish
classes.

Join us for Winter Fun Day at 4-H Camp TaPaWingo!- January 23rd, 10am-4pm

Sledding Snowshoeing Snow Snake Competition Snowman Contest Scavenger Hunt
Raffles and Door Prizes Lunch, Snacks and Drinks will be available to
purchase.

The MS wrestling parent meeting will be next Tuesday, January 12th at 6pm
in the High School Cafeteria.

Next week, January 11-15, 2016, is Wisconsin’s Adult School Crossing Guard
Recognition Week . Please
consider sharing an appreciation with them.

*Freshman Curriculum Night:*

Next year freshman and parents are encouraged to attend the informational
meeting on January 18th from 5:30-8 in the High School cafeteria. Parents
please watch your mailboxes for a letter that was sent home.

*8th Grade Art students* will be visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum on *Tuesday,
Feb. 2.* We are looking for at least 6-7 more parent volunteers who are
willing to come along and help chaperone this fantastic field trip! We’ll
need you from about 8:30-2:45. We will tour the newly-renovated Art
Museum, and also participate in a hands-on make-and-take art project.

Yearbook will meet Monday, January 11th and Monday, January 25th from *3:15
until 4:00* in Miss Zimmer’s room. See you all there!

*Lion King Play is March 10th-12th*

Hakuna Matata – Sheboygan Falls Middle Schoolers – The sign-up for the
middle school musical the Lion King is posted on office windows. Please
sign-up for Monday, January 18th or Tuesday, January 19th. The audition
will be after school. They will last about 10 minutes and will be on a
first come first serve basis. As soon as you are finished, you may leave.
All students that audition will be cast as parts. The cost for being in
the musical is $40.00. There is also some other paperwork that needs to be
completed as well and is encouraged to be completed before the first
rehearsal which will be January 21st. Please stop in the office for any
paperwork for the musical. Rehearsals generally run from 3:15-4:00 pm or 4:30
pm during the week of the show they will run until 5:30 pm. The parent
meeting will be on January 19th at 5:00 pmin the middle school auditorium.

*ACTION ROOM HAPPENINGS!*

*Congratulations to our Holiday Poetry Contest Winners,* Liberty O, Tayler
O and Mercedes R. Their poems have been entered in the Creative
Communications Poetry Contest for a chance to become a published poet.
Poems can be viewed on the ACTION Room bulletin board. Winners should see
Mrs. Fiorini for award.

*CHESS CLUB!* Students interested in learning/playing chess, are invited to
the ACTION Room on Friday, January 8th, 15th and 29th. New and experienced
chess players are welcome. Pick up your lunch and bring it with you at the
start of the lunch/recess period.

*SPELLING BEE! *Our grade level spelling bees will take place during the
week of January 11th on the following dates;

Grade 5 Finalists on Mon. 1/11 at 2:00PM

Grade 6 Finalists on Tues. 1/12 at 2:00PM

*Parenting the Love & Logic Way*

Students and their families are invited to participate in the Strengthening
Families Program for ages 10-14 through UW-Sheboygan and Mental Health
America. The Strengthening Families Program helps develop healthy family
relationships between children (aged 10-14) and their
parents/guardians. The Spring 2016 session will run every *Thursday*
from January
28 to March 10*, 5:30pm to 8:00pm* with dinner provided. The flyer and
registration form are available in the office. Child care for younger kids

Starting second semester, Student Council will be having a soda tab drive
to benefit an organization that helps kids with cancer. So, start saving
those soda tabs. When you’re at your relatives over break, be sure to ask
them too!

*The first dance of the year *for all middle school students will be held on
Friday, January 8, from 3:15-5:15. The theme is “Under the Sea,” so you
are encouraged to wear blue to the dance. DJ Kurty Kurt will once again be
spinning records for us and there will be pizza, ice cream, candy, and soda
for sale at the event. Students will need a signed permission slip to
attend the dance. Permission slips will be handed out in your Falcon Time
before break. Wristbands to get into the dance will be for sale after
break for $1. Wristbands can be purchased at lunch on Wed., Jan. 6, Thurs.,
Jan. 7, and Friday, Jan. 8. They will also be on sale right before the
dance that Friday afternoon.

Facilities Advisory Committee now forming, seeking volunteers!

The School District of Sheboygan Falls is seeking district residents to
volunteer for a Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC). The role of the
committee is to provide meaningful input to the Sheboygan Falls Board of
Education as the Board analyzes potential solutions for the Sheboygan Falls
Middle School. The committee will also provide specific input on the
district-wide, long-range capital replacement priorities. It is anticipated
that the committee will meet no more than six (6) times between January and
April 2016.

Committee membership: The Board is seeking a broad-based group that
represents a cross-section of the community. Committee members are asked to
commit to participating in all meetings. Please contact Jean Born, District

committee.

Meeting schedule: Dates: January 25, February 8, February 29, March 14, March

discuss the input gathered by the FAC.

After much study, the updated US Nutritional Guidelines have been
released. In addition to encouraging more vegetables, fruits, and whole
grains it states that Americans need to greatly reduce the amount of sugar
and salt they consume. Make one nutrition-related new year’s resolution
and do you best to stick to it!
