A Message from the Principals

Welcome to Winter!

This time of year brings several themes that involve thinking about the experience of others, and our own well-being. February is Black History Month, Heart Health Awareness Month, and Friendship Month (our version of Valentine’s Day celebrations).

As a school community, we encourage students to develop their self and social awareness, self-reflection and responsible decision-making (which are several of the social-emotional competencies). These are lifelong skills that you can support at home, too. We encourage you to have conversations about your safety plan and wellness choices as a family. Your engagement with your child’s growth and learning means the world to them!

Thank you for your partnership in our school community,

Lynn & Jen

Jennifer Andrews, SFES Associate Principal

Board of Education Updates

The School District of Sheboygan Falls holds its monthly regular board meetings on the third Monday of the month at 6:00 pm. Come join us on Monday, February 19th! You can find more information about upcoming meetings, your Board Members and more HERE.

Can’t make It? You can view the Board Agendas and Minutes at BoardDocs.com HERE.

Safety Update

We help students prepare for drills using this conversation SLIDE DECK. Students do a great job learning about where to go in an emergency and practicing making safe choices.  Our drill for February is a medical drill.  While students do not have an active role in this drill, they can learn their part in keeping hallways clear for medical professionals, and also think about their safety plan at home.  Have you talked about what to do in a medical emergency in your family?

Excellence in Education Nominations

Due: Monday, February 5th

We are excited to announce that twenty-four school districts are partnering with Channel 5 to recognize exceptional school employees in a program called the “Eastern Wisconsin Excellence in Education” awards. This program is similar to the “Golden Apple” and “Shining Stars” programs in Green Bay and the Fox Valley.

This program allows parents, students, community members, and staff to nominate deserving school employees in the following categories:

  • Innovation in work (How has the employee demonstrated innovation in his/her work area?)
  • Culture creator in the work environment (How has the employee gone above and beyond in creating a positive school culture?)
  • Social/emotional well being (How has the employee impacted the social/emotional well being of students and/or the school environment?)
  • Community involvement (How has the employee positively impacted the community?)
  • Student connection (In what ways has the employee built positive relationships with students?)

NOMINATIONS (FORM LINKED HERE) need to be submitted by February 5th, 2024. Following the submission deadline, a panel of judges will review each nomination to determine finalists. These finalists will then be asked to elaborate on the work outlined in the nomination. The judges will then select the award recipients in each of the five categories.

The awards show ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at the Kiel Area School District Performing Arts Center. The program will be live streamed on the Channel 5, WeAreGreenBay.com website.

A Message from the Nurses

Did you know that the United States Department of Agriculture has a great website that provides information on proper nutrition guidelines for every age group?  We sometimes hear from students that they are not eating breakfast or skipping lunch for various reasons. Sometimes they say they aren’t hungry. Others may be trying to lose weight due to peer pressure or sports expectations. Check in with your children to ensure they are eating a balanced diet. The following websites have helpful tips and activities regarding nutrition.
