Day. Menu for that day is Corn Dogs, not preboated (count out 6), mashed
potatoes, gravy and carrots/ dip, watermelon/ mango and Dirt cake. There
will not be extra containers to put ketchup and dip in. Just place the

SFMS will be celebrating Earth Day, April 22, with a waste free lunch. As
a middle school our goal will be to help reduce the amount of trash that
goes into the landfill, and even work on reducing the amount of food that
goes in the trash as well. This will be an entire school effort from the
kitchen staff right to our students that we hope to continue after Earth
Day. Menu for that day is Corn Dogs, not preboated (count out 6), mashed
potatoes, gravy and carrots/ dip, watermelon/ mango and Dirt cake. There
will not be extra containers to put ketchup and dip in. Just place the
condiments on your tray with the food you’re using it on. Below are a few
ideas to help you pack your own waste free lunch.

*A Waste-Free Lunch*

*(REUSABLE)*

· sandwiches and other main dishes, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, and
treats in a reusable lunch container

· cloth napkins

in color but it is a guaranteed fun time! Early bird entries are due by April
15th. Registration forms can be picked up in the office of any school
building. If you have questions please contact Roberta Lentz at

*From The Nurse:*

There are several things that contribute to choking. All of these things
can happen right in our lunch room.

1. Trying to swallow large pieces of poorly chewed food

2. Eating while talking excitedly or laughing

3. Eating too fast

4. Walking, playing or running with food our objects in the mouth

The universal sign of choking is to put both of your hands over your
throat. There are people in the lunch room who are trained to help you if
choking occurs. Someone who is coughing should continue to cough. If you
are choking and cannot talk and cannot cough give the universal choking
sign. Help will be on the way.
