*Silverware:* Spring cleaning or cleaning out someone’s house? Have old or
mismatched forks and spoons? Send them to school! We prefer to use the
“real stuff” instead of plastic for a better dining experience. We also
feel this will save the landfills from all the plastic, this in part of an
Earth Day recycling event. You can drop in the office of any of our
schools. Thank you!

April 11-15 is National Library Week. Help us celebrate by entering our
contest. All you have to do is guess how many items the library has in
it’s collection. The contest ends at noon on Friday, April 15. The
individuals with the closest guess will win a Barnes and Noble gift card.
While you are in the library, don’t forget to check out a book or two.
(The contest is open to both students and staff.)

*ACTION ROOM HAPPENINGS!*

*CHESS CLUB & SCRABBLE PLAY! *Grab your lunch and come to the ACTION Room
on Weds. April 13th during the entire lunch/recess period.

*ECO NATURE CLUB! *Join the club created by kids like you who have a
passion for nature and an interest in learning how to take care of our
environment. The club is open to all students in grades five through
eight. We will brainstorm and research topics to determine what our
projects this year will be. Some of the things we will explore include
vermiposting (WORMS!), gardening, animal studies and continuing to build
our greenhouse out of recyclable materials. If you’d like to join this
student directed club, complete and return the participation slip to Mrs.
Fiorini! Meetings will be held during recess periods and during
after-school hours, with the details of those meetings always shared in
advance through school announcements. As some meetings are held after
school, a permission slip is required. Pick one up from the ACTION Room
bulletin board or see Mrs. Fiorini with questions.

*St. Jude Math-a-thon*: Over the past twelve years, SFMS raised over
$33,620.00 for children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!! It is
time to kick off this fundraiser once again! Between now and April 27th,
students will have the opportunity to participate in the 2016 SFMS St. Jude
Math-a-thon. Sign up, collect sponsors, solve cool math problems, and earn
prizes*…but most importantly*, help the children and families at St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital. In addition, one participating student from
each grade level will be randomly selected to receive a pair of Marc
Cinema movie passes AND the math class *with the highest number of
contributing participants* will earn a class popcorn party!!! Students will
also be eligible to receive prizes from the St. Jude organizers.* Funbooks
will be distributed via math teachers this week to all those who signed up
to participate . If you missed the sign up, but are interested in
participating, stop in to see Mrs. Fiorini! * *Together we can make a
difference!!! *

SFMS will be celebrating Earth Day, April 22, with a waste free lunch. As
a middle school our goal will be to help reduce the amount of trash that
goes into the landfill, and even work on reducing the amount of food that
goes in the trash as well. This will be an entire school effort from the
kitchen staff right to our students that we hope to continue after Earth
Day. Menu for that day is Corn Dogs, not preboated (count out 6), mashed
potatoes, gravy and carrots/ dip, watermelon/ mango and Dirt cake. There
will not be extra containers to put ketchup and dip in. Just place the
condiments on your tray with the food you’re using it on. Below are a few
ideas to help you pack your own waste free lunch.

As many of you know already, April is Autism Awareness Month. World Autism
Awareness Day is April 2, 2016. Every year, autism organizations around the
world celebrate the day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising
events. Now, you may be wondering how we can celebrate as a school
community! This is how you can join in. Every Tuesday in April, wear the
color BLUE or an Autism shirt if you own one, decorate your Falcon Time
door with a BLUE theme, and join us for an Autism Walk during your Falcon
Time on April 22nd. The door with the most creative decoration will win a
prize for each student in the class. You will also have the chance to
enter a drawing for participating in the walk. We are looking forward to
seeing our school community come together to do OUR part in celebrating
this month!

If you still want to order a yearbook, you may do that but you can only buy
the yearbook for $27. You *can not* add any icons or personalization
because those orders needed to be in at the end of February. If you have

*A Waste-Free Lunch*

*(REUSABLE)*

· sandwiches and other main dishes, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, and
treats in a reusable lunch container

· cloth napkins

· stainless-steel forks and spoons

· reusable drink containers

Stress is just part of life! Here are some tips from your school nurses to
help deal with stress:

1. Do one thing at a time.

2. Find someone you are grateful for and thank them.

3. Clasp your arms behind your back and stretch your shoulders.

4. Take 10 slow deep breaths.

Help support the 8th grade class trip fundraiser! Order forms can be turned
into the MS office. All orders and payment must be returned by April 1st.
Thank you for your support! Attached is the order forms!

*Ever wonder what you’d look like if you tried to tie-dye your body? *Join
the fun on May 14th for the inaugural Flying Falcons 5K Color Run/Walk
being held on the Sheboygan Falls Elementary School campus. The event will
also have a 2 mile option. Compete for a time or just do it to get doused
in color but it is a guaranteed fun time! Early bird entries are due by April
15th. Registration forms can be picked up in the office of any school
building. If you have questions please contact Roberta Lentz at
[email protected] or Matt Pfister at
[email protected].

You will also have the chance to
enter a raffle for participating in the walk. We are looking forward to
seeing our school community come together to do OUR part in celebrating
this month!

Breakfast Reminders – only students who wish to eat breakfast are allowed
in the cafeteria before school and should use the playground doors. Once
you have finished eating you should clean up after yourself and leave the
building through the playground doors.

In honor of “Opening Day” on Monday, April 4th, please wear your baseball
attire to support “America’s Favorite Past-time” and the Milwaukee Brewers!

Forward Exam Information is attached to announcements. The testing starts
this week. Please see the dates of your students testing, because students
will need earbuds for the test.

5th, 6th and 7th graders are reminded that their course selection sheets
for next year are due back in the office by this Thursday (March 31st).
Students are reminded that courses fill quickly and the later you get your
form in, the greater your chance of not getting all the classes that you
want.
