A Message from the Principals

Hello Families!

As the first quarter comes to an end it is a great time to stay connected and up to date with the parent portal via Infinite Campus.  If you were not able to make Parent-Teacher conferences this month, please reach out to your student’s teachers, checking in to see the progress that has been made since the start of the year.

We appreciate your continued support for our Middle School and as always if you have any questions please feel free to reach out.

Ryan Zak, SFMS Principal

Lindsey Schreurs, SFMS Associate Principal

Calendar Changes:

2024-25 and 2025-26 School Years

In June of 2023, a group of teachers and staff met to discuss potential changes to the academic calendar, with a goal of maximizing student and teacher engagement in learning and instruction.

Identified Goals of the Committee:

  • Reduce the number of instructional days in June
  • Provide a consistent instructional schedule for students Monday – Friday
  • Maximize professional development by dedicating a full day, instead of Wednesday afternoons
  • Enhance student supervision / engagement in after-school activities
  • Offer families the opportunity to use periodic, longer weekends / holidays for family vacations / appointments instead of instructional days

Important Proposed Changes:

  • No early dismissal on Wednesdays
  • 4K program will run Monday through Thursday
  • More Fridays during the school year without students reporting; teacher professional development opportunities
  • School Start Time Changes
  • Elementary School: 7:55am – 3:08pm
  • AM 4K: 7:55am – 10:55am
  • PM 4K: 12:05pm – 3:08pm
  • Middle School: 7:50am – 3:10pm
  • High School: 7:45am – 3:15pm
  • Start / End Dates
  • 2024-25 ~ September 3rd, 2024 – May 30th, 2025 (Draft Calendar Here)
  • 2025-26 ~ September 2nd, 2025 – May 29th, 2026 (Draft Calendar Here)

A Message from the Nurses –

Cold or Flu?

Fall is a beautiful time of year, but along with changes in the weather we start to see illnesses on the rise. The best way to prevent the spread of illness is to wash your hands thoroughly. If your family members start to feel sick, how do you know if it is a cold or the flu? Many of the symptoms are the same. Below is a reference that can help you determine if the symptoms you and / or your family member are experiencing is a cold or the flu.

If you have any questions, please email Nurse Amber or Nurse Deanna.
